E3 2006 Screens | Tony Hawk: Downhill Jam on Nintendo Wii

By James Temperton 08.05.2006 16

Quick News: They haven't been shown officially yet, but E3's official site, E3 Insider is showing off screens of Activision's Tony Hawk: Downhill Jam for the Nintendo Wii. The shots show people playing the game alongside shots of the title in action, as well as some full-size in-game shots. It looks a bit basic to us, but no doubt more details will be released soon along with the first hands on impressions. Check out the images by following the link below.

Deffinatly not saying "wow" to the graphics, they look piss poor

    Gameplay looks interesting though.

They look like PSP quality...wtf... They'll HAVE to get much better... I saw Red Steel, and it looks AMAZING, and then I see this and I suddenly get the urge to take a dump on someone...

That better be 60fps with excellent lighting...

But its not about the gfx though is it.

Those look like an N64... I sure hope those are shots of a work in progress!

I reckon its probably coz they're focusing on the gameplay mechanics with the wii controller that the graphics look rubbish...which is a good sign...i'm sure the graphics will get better once they get round to workin on it...

Ah, all I can think is that it's a rushed Wii launch game, that's why...

Tony Hawks games are never that good with graphics anyway.

Yeah, but were they ever this bad this gen?

Craptastic is the only non-word that comes to mind.

That aside it's far from what the game will look like. Any developer will tell you that these are just concept graphics (look at the buildings, one step away from the common white and texture-free practice), used to allow physics / control development before the game is fully developed.

Hopefully the physics / controls rock, because the game will look much better than this Smilie

Well, aside from the placeholder graphics, it looks like it will be an entirely different type of THPS game which can only be a good thing.

It's going to be shit and you jolly well know it.

That looks UTTER shite. The Tony Hawks games really peaked at 3, and went down after that. 3 was damn awesome, and had better graphics than this. If these are the sort of graphics we may see on the wii a lot, then screw it. I hope this is just a crappy rushed game

Those are terrible graphics indeed :-/
    N64 quality (almost).
    Certainly sub-gamecube.

Surely they can bump the polycounts up on the cars and the textures a bit?

The GBA ones did, for the system.

I garentee that those aren't the final graphics. No developer is THAT bad.

It's going to be shit and you jolly well know it.

Tony took a big dump over these screens, but they hopefully are in-progress shots with a main focus on the control mech.

Obviously they are not final graphics.
