E3 2006 Rumours | Nintendo Holding Back Secrets

By Adam Riley 10.05.2006 17

According to the normally very reliable Shikamaru Ninja of NeoGAF, there are a few morsels of information that we should all know about:

  • Pilotwings is set to come to the Wii (confirmed in our exclusive interview with Brooke Burgess) thanks to Geist developer N-Space, under the watchful eye of Nintendo;

  • A Nintendo development group has been sub-contracted by NCL to develop the new Dragon Quest for the Wii's launch under the guidance of Square-Enix's design team (thought to possibly be either Golden Sun's Camelot or Mario & Luigi's Alpha Dream);

  • Diddy Kong Racing will be missing Banjo and Conker due to licensing issues with Microsoft. The game may not be worked on by Rare;

  • Nintendo is set to show several experimental titles behind closed doors (such as Nintendo Talent Studio, King Chef from the nintendogs team and a symphony game);

  • The Nintendo Stars / Nintendo Club system will be incorporated into the Virtual Console

    This is excellent news - I THOUGHT Nintendo Talent Studio would be making a comeback of sorts! I take it King Chef is a first party cookery game...maybe like Iron Chef (Japanese cookery gameshow)...

    Talent studio, that grabs my attention. Nintendo could be ripping off singstar.

    "Study this revelation, you nest of adders!"

    The Nintendo Stars system will be integrated JUSt as I predicted.Smilie

    It's going to be shit and you jolly well know it.

    Nah, Talent Studio has been about since the N64 days when they were doing the DD attachment, it just got dropped when the DD was a failure.

    Nintendo Stars and Club System to be incorporated into Virtual Gaming ist an easy way to lose star-points. That's an easy way to add bonus-stars to any game purchased and buy classics or even bonus items with it. Personally I dislike additional content, as it is not fix within the game and maybe gone when you play these games 3 years later.

    I wonder: there will be Opera included with Wii. Does this mean you can access the internet via Wii or just the Network of Nintendo?

    I find your lack of faith disturbing!

    OMG YES! finally a decent use for them on a regualr basis. The symphoney game looks superb.

    You the man! 0/\0 Smilie

    It makes sense for Nintendo to continue using the stars, They have the Nintendo Bedroom thingy where you download items for a desktop bedroom or something to that extent. I like the idea of the ring tones being downloaded, but i'd rather use the stars to get things on AC:Wii or access demo's/extra levels.

    It'll be nice to see Diddy Kong racing. Its a shame that they didn't continue with the DK racer from years ago (e3 demo when the GC was announced i think). Still, the original on N64 was good and so theres gotta be high hopes for the sequal.

    Just as you and 90% of the NIntendo community predicted Smilie

    i would like the Nintendo Stars system!! that would be good!!

    ps. I FOOKING LOVE PETROID PRIME 3 CORRUPTION!!!!! TEEEHEEEEE :p

    I see all these people insulting the Nintendo corporation because of the lack of mature content. Yet there is something about Nintendo (at least their games) that strikes a certain unadulterated feeling of joy!!!  Pokemon Y - 1048-9263-5562

    I'm sure they are speaking of a microphone, I read somewhere a guy spoke into his remote and it came out another guys remote..
    Vague I know but yeh talking using microphones, no need to buy extra peripherals for voice recognition..etc should be cool if I am correct Smilie

    Wait a moment...what was the big secret Reggie was talking about? Was it the speaker on the remote?Smilie

    I read somewhere a guy spoke into his remote and it came out another guys remote..

    That's very cool, I imagine it'll also be used to talk to other users online. A feature I think is awesome. It will open up a whole new stream of interactivity. I never thought I'd here myself say this but I can't wait for the next Mario Party game.
