When we saw the Nintendo Wii controller for the first time, we instantly thought 'gun'. Perhaps not the most mentally stable ideas to come to mind so quickly, but to us it was obvious. Nintendo seem to be thinking in the same way, and are showing off a Nintendo Wii Lightgun at E3 2006.

Needless to say it will be used in various shooting games, with Duck Hunt said to be on display using it at E3 2006. We'll try and bring you some more details on this device and any games that use it very soon. Stay tuned, folks!

I like the look of the ligt gun holder, but i think i'd prefer to use the Wiimote and nunchuck for search and shoot games.

I don't think the analogue stick will have much use. I've got the g-con 2 light gun and dino stalker game. In that, you use the dpad (on the g-con2) to move while you shoot. I found that it made it too difficult to actually get any accuracy and also hurt your hands after a while. You want a gun game to be as comfortable as possible (Sega Army and DC owners will know that from House of the dead 2 and confidential mission - some perfect shooting right there!).

But if the light gun holder was made for the idea of bringing gamers like Time Crisis and (fingers crossed) house of the dead, where movement is auto-matic, it'll be good for menu's or swopping weapons. Also, shooting down any unsuspecting ducks! Smilie

If I were IGN, I would be very happy right now. Reading the IGN article about this news they seem more than happy that a mock-up of theirs has been taken official. Even if Nintendo had this idea in mind for a long while, at least they saw the practicality in it and noticed how the gamers wanted it. Smilie

I can't wait to get my hands on one of these!

it looks like its meant to be held in two hands shotgun style but i cant see a trigger near where you hold it so i assume you would have to use the B button on the wiimote which would defeat the idea of having this add on.

-Have you any idea what it's like to be a Fembot living in a Manbot's Manputer's world?
    -What?
