E3 2006 Screens | First Pokemon Diamond / Pearl Shots

Yay, 2D! (thanks God they didn't go 3D...although portable pokemon games have never had stunning graphics)

I really hope this is a return to form for pokemon, it's been slipping ever since the awesome Gold/Silver.

I agree with you there fenno - definitely - Gold/Silver were and still are the legends of the series. I remember almost tripping over in Singapore Airport to get these - they had just come out as we were on our way back from Hols!

it's a weird looking 3D 2D, hopfully they have the movement sorted out(enough with the zig zagging!) but i hope the battle scenes are 3D.

It's not as impressive as I thought it might look, though I'm not sure what I expected - I think I was hoping for Minish Cap style 2D, rather than 3Dish 2D.

Still, I'm excited. I hope they don't muck it up, I want my decent sequel to Gold/Silver - R/S were a mess as far as I was concerned, they overcomplicated the series and shoved in a load of crap monsters.

Mike, I didn't expect much more than this to be honest. Game Freak seems to just focus on the gameplay more, which is fine by me. It doesn't look awful...just looks like what the GBA version SHOULD have looked like!

Gold/Silver version(s) were brilliant. Nothing beat the original memories of Blue/Red version(s) but with the memory of catching Lugia and then excitedly making my way over to the tower in which Ho-oh resides at the top of was a great experience.
