Smilie The Wii remote could be kinda cool for this. Imagine getting radio calls from NPCs on the Wiimote!

That's a nice idea, using the Wiimote's speaker as a comm. device Smilie

I hope the Wii's RE isn't too much of a spin-off. Like the PS2's Outbreak series.

Steam: Guess what?

Resident Evil: Dead Aim or something like that would be be disappointing. Hopefully it'll be a tweaked RE4 engine for a new experience...

Yeah but i'm pretty suprised the RE game is coming inthe first place. I though Capcom said they wanted to get used to the controller first, use it for somthin unique and could really take advantage of it. Unless they found the idea they came up with really worked well with RE or maby just got lazy.

Whatever version it is, its rumoured that it could come out before the Resident Evil 5 for the PS3 and the 360, since both of those are in their early stages of development.

Yes that's true, Cuchulainn, which makes me think it either DOES just use a tweaked RE4 engine or is a cheap spin-off...

And Blade, Capcom DID state it wasn't sure if it could do an RE game straight off the cuff, opting instead to test the system out with 'another similar style game'. Clearly Nintendo showed them the error of their ways! Smilie

Personally I hope to god that it's a tweaked RE4 engine. Aiming with the Wiimote while holding A, using B to fire seems perfect. Plus using the Wiimote to point/look around corners instead of the C-stick? Sounds hella awesome to me.

Still a proud member of the 'omfg amazing water in games' society

I don't care if it does use the RE4 engine, in fact I'd prefer it - I don't give a damn if it's a spinoff, but if it plays similarly to RE4 you'd better believe I'll be getting it the second it's out. Can't wait for the news!

Smilie oooo hopefully some juicy news will be reveled!!!

I see all these people insulting the Nintendo corporation because of the lack of mature content. Yet there is something about Nintendo (at least their games) that strikes a certain unadulterated feeling of joy!!!  Pokemon Y - 1048-9263-5562

My (perhaps complete shit) Theory:

Back when the Wii was called "Revolution" by everybody, Nintendo's official trailer (from GDC I think) was doing the rounds.

It had the section where the 'revmote' was being used as a torch as if to suggest a 'scary' game.

Well I'm sure many of you have seen clips of how Resident Evil4 originally was going to be. Much much more eerie and excessive use of waving the torch around, but the whole thing was scrapped.....(Early RE4 Build Video Clip)

This early build of resident evil 4 looks SO much more graphically impressive than what we actually got.... just fucking look at that clip. Look at Leons jacket.. looks like real bloody leather! The shadows are perfect...There's simply nothing on PS2/Xbox/GC that looks this gorgeous.

My bets are on Capcom ressurecting this early build of RE4, and doing the torch/gun combo with the Wiimote.
They could have been planning that ever since they announced "PS3,XBOX360 RE5 only"

It's already (in my books) considered as graphically "next gen" and the Wii would be able to do alot more with it technically.

Whadda ya think?

Torch with Nunchuk gun with the Wiimote! Looks pretty damn good to me. And no next gen shinies!

1"We're mentalist psychic Scots , which means we can read your mind. If you're lying, your head explodes and we laugh."

Necro Nesia uses the Wii-mote as a torch, so Capcom will have already seen how it can be used like that. Sadness's trailer also shows a similar technique, plus using the Wii-mote as an umbrella!

Lots of ideas for Capcom to incorporate...let's hope they work closely with Nintendo to bring us the best possible version.

Best idea ever! That build looked amazing, it's a shame they dropped it (though it would've scared the heck out of me!). It looked like it had some potential issues of being a bit samey, etc., but they could've been worked out...

That'd work better in an MGS game methinks.

and bold tag closed! [/b]

Umm...Re4 does look that impressive.
It looks exactly like that vid, only there never was a bit with glass like that.
Heck, Id say thats praticaly the same character model

Remember, things look better when they are smaller.

I'm hopeing for a new game, but the other possibilitys are;

*Another remake of 1, a bit like the DS version
*Purhapes a spin-off game like "mercenaries" on Re4.

But what if somone radio called you or even phoned you scremming for help then you hear shots, then it goes quite only to hear the sqelchin of the friend being eatin! Could add to the atmosphere.

Could the speaker manage all that though? It's only one speaker and too much happening could feel manic and just like a wall of noise.

Well, I thought if it could simulate a Phone call it's could add to the experiance instead of having to pause and go into a screen with 2 people talking. It's just an idea.

There's something terribly wrong where ever you're at, and all sorts of noises could really give you a feeling you're being watched, or chased... Would be cool if occasionally those moody sounds would come out of the speaker... For example you're somewhere in some forest, and suddenly you hear leaves being stepped on... Or suddenly a scream comes out of the remote...
