Nintendo Rumours | Virtua Cop Wii, Nights Sequel & More

By Adam Riley 19.05.2006 26

Quick News - The latest issue of US magazine EGM has some interesting rumours within its pages. First of all it backs up the talk of a sequel to Sega's Nights coming (although does not confirm a format), then there will be an all-new look for the next Need for Speed titles, and finally it states that Virtua Cop will be ported to Nintendo Wii!

Awesome! Virtual Cop's a decent shooter, hopefully we'll get the other Sega classic House of the Dead and maybe even Time Crisis!

I feel quite excited about the prospect a virua cop done up for the home console. As for need for speed i think its about time they went away from the urban theme that have for the underground games.

Bleep bleep blork bleep

Oh god please let there be a Wii Nights. PLEASE.

I'm trying so hard to resist making a joke about wetting the bed...

Keep trying, we Sega fans have little jokes about NiGHTS Smilie

I'd rather not have a simple arcade port of Virtua Cop. Considering the type of game it is, surely they can make it far more realistic looking.

Ported to the Wii??? From what machine??? I you guys are celebrating a PS2 port to a next gen console. The Wii is cheap and easy to develope for. That's why it was designed in a simailar way to the Gamecube. Any game for the Wii should be designed form the ground up. I'm sick of Ps2 ports on the Gamecube. Let's just hope that that saga has ended with Wii

Any port to the Wii means one less reason to buy their console and one more reasont o buy a Wii. Don't see the problem.

and finally it states that Virtua Cop will be ported to Nintendo Wii!

YAY! I loved playing the old Virtua cops games and the 3rd one in the arcades was a great game. Now all we need is a sequal to Vampire nights, House of the dead and Confidential Mission to make there way to the Wii and we're gonna get some great shooters! Smilie

I'm pretty skeptical about a sequal to NiGHTS turning up. Naka has just made his own studio devoted to new IP, and Sega would never do it without him.

It would be a dream, and could happen, but it's not as likely as many hope.

It's going to be shit and you jolly well know it.

But Naka could do it himself and Sega act as publisher in the same manner as Kojima and the MGS series.

But he keeps emphasising that his new studio is all about new IP, he's not going to immediately make a sequal to a beloved existing franchise.

It's going to be shit and you jolly well know it.

Well actually that's what I'm worried about... Now that Naka's left Sonic Team there's nothing stopping SEGA from ordering Sonic Team to make a new Nights game, and Yuji can't do anything to stop it, or even prevent them completely ruining it... I'm already almost certain that Sonic's gonna go completely down the drain with Naka gone too...

True, last truely great sonic game was Sonic & Knuckles. everything since has been either average or piss poor.

I really doubt that a sequal to NiGHTS is ever going to come along. Yuji Naka has just made his own studio devoted to creating a new series, and Sega would never do it without him.

It would be like im on cloud 9 , and although it could happen, its really unlikely that it will

I dunno why everyone seems to think that everything after Sonic and Knuckles sucks... (And some people after Sonic 2) I loved both Sonic adventure games, and the more I play them the more I love them. Heroes is the complete opposite however. I can't stand to even put it in the GC anymore

Yeah, Sonic Adventure 1&2 were great.
Of course I played the Dreamcast version.

I didn't really like the Gameboy Advance games or the DS one. Those aren't much fun.

Can't wait for Wild Fire though, looks promissing, its probably what Sega needs right now. [/wishful thinking]

Sonic Adventure 1 & 2 are good but not without their flaws.

There just not the Sonic games I grew up with, they don't feel like how sonic should act in 3D. It's just a completly diffrent feel, then theres the rubbish music I mean what happened to the guy that did the ones on the megadrive?

I don't understand sega at times. They come up with a great franchise, with a great formula, they become classics then they kill them!??

victimes:

Streets of Rage
Sonic Series
Shenmue
Nights
Skies of Arcadia (but i dunno if you can have a sequel to that but ya know somthin in the same universe maby?)

Spot on Blade. They spent time creating this vibrant Sonic world then killed it, took it to Earth and americanised the whole damned thing.

Oh and you could easily have a sequel to SoA, different generation and all that, maybe a prequel aswell.

I'd love to see House of the Dead come on the Wii while they're at it. A compilation of arcade shooters would be great. There's, what, 3 House of the Dead games? That'd be enough for me. I don't remember ever playing Virtual Cop, are there any sequals? That should be packaged with it too. Unless it somehow weasels its way onto the VC.
Licensing is the only thing I imagine keeping older arcade out of the VC. They could put up an arcade section if they wanted. That'd be awesome Smilie

What was I even talking about again ? Smilie

I must admit that the whole humans being in it, and cities thing was absolutely balls... There shouldn't be any humans in Sonic (except Robotnik) and the city levels ALWAYS suck. I loved getting the items in the first Sonic adventure though, and the massive adventure fields were awesome, except the city... The second one wasn't anywhere near as good, especially with those terrible Tails and Robotnik levels, and the fact that the Good and Dark teams were exactly the same...

I love the music in the 3D Sonic games though. Much better than the crap from Sonic Rush. The original tunes were alot better though. The Doomsday zone tune rocked. And the Emerald Hill one. And the Green Hill one... Infact they all rocked
