In a Newsweek article on Nintendo, Konami's head of games Michihiro Ishizuka commented that he believes that the Wii is set for victory.
"I would use the dominance of the DS in Japan to predict the future for Wii, since the vision for Wii is similar,"
Positive stuff from such a renowned company, but the interview had many other comments and positive points for Nintendo to take solice in. Industry analyst Michael Pachter was positive about the Wii, especially as Newsweek said in the wake of a mind blowing PS3 price tag.:
Not only will fan boys buy it, but it will also be the second console of choice for PS3 or Xbox 360 owners
There was also positive news coming from EA, with Nintendo's shedding of it's old image seeming to work:
We looked at the success Nintendo had on the DS by starting with a clean slate, and that's the approach we're taking on Wii
UbiSoft also had something to say, with Laurent Decot being positive about RedSteel's chances:
I spent a hell of a lot of time playing Goldeneye on the Nintendo 64. I don't think shooters aren't meant to sell on Nintendo platforms.
The CEO of THQ is also full of praise, this time of Nintendo's decision to essentially bow out of the console war and take the third route.
Microsoft and Sony have been engaged in this huge battle for the living room. Nintendo's been very smart in saying, 'OK, let's not be the third entrant in that battle. Let's do something different'.
The article itself is very "pro Nintendo". Referring to the staggering Phoenix from the flames resurgence from the Kyoto company. With the DS fighting off the PSP and how Iwata had started his plan to bring non gamers in way back when he first took over the company. Such good press in such a worldwide famous publication can only be good for Nintendo as they try to leave behind the relative failure of the GameCube and move forward to a Wii shaped future.
