C[/size][/b]apcom recently revealed its sales figures for the last fiscal year, as well as its plans and projections for the next year. Below is what was revealed:

Sales Figures

  • Resident Evil 4 (PS2, 1,810,000, Japan: 490,000, USA: 610,000, Europe: 710,000)
  • Onimusha (PS2, 640,000, Japan: 340,000, USA: 160,000, Europe: 140,000)
  • Monster Hunter (PSP, 610,000)
  • Monster Hunter 2 - (PS2, 540,000)
  • Mega Man Battle Network 6 (GBA, 610,000)
  • Devil Kings (PS2, 310,000, Japan: 190,000, USA: 80,000, Europe: 40,000)
  • Megaman Series (All Platforms, 1,700,000 Worldwide)

  • Sales Projections

  • Okami - USA & Japan: 390,000 (already sold 130,000 in Japan)
  • S Basara 2 - Japan: 250,000
  • Dead Rising - Worldwide: 660,000
  • Lost Planet - Worldwide: 740,000
  • Phoenix Wright 4 (Nintendo DS) - Japan: 200,000
  • Megaman Series - Worldwide: 900,000

  • For reference, Resident Evil 4 on the GameCube sold roughly 1.4 million units worldwide.

    Next Generation Titles Underway

  • Resident Evil 5 (Xbox 360)
  • Dead Rising (Xbox 360)
  • Lost Planet (Xbox 360)
  • Monster Hunter 3 (PS3)
  • Devil May Cry 4 (PS3)
  • Resident Evil 5 (PS3)
  • Resident Evil Series (Wii)

  • Planned Title & Shipments Per Platform (1st April, 2006 - 3rd March, 2007)

  • PlayStation 2 - 33 Titles (3.4 million units)
  • PlayStation 3 - 3 Titles (150,000 units)
  • PlayStation Portable - 21 Titles (2.5 million units)
  • GameCube - 0 Titles
  • Game Boy Advance - 2 Titles (300,000 units)
  • Nintendo DS - 10 Titles (1.6 million units)
  • Xbox - 1 Title (100,000 units)
  • Xbox 360 - 6 Titles (1.85 million units)

  • So the GameCube has been completely dropped now, and the absence of the Nintendo Wii on that list means that Resident Evil will not be released before 3rd March, 2007. In addition, it is also noteworthy how little Capcom expects its PS3 games to sell, possibly meaning that its three titles for the platform will be released late in the fiscal year, rather than a lack of faith in the system.

when you can wayit, you can get a wii.
Companies are developing for x360 because they got devkits for it. PS3 has them too, but maybe Wii-kits are not on the way - dolphin.kits don't do it because of the new controller and the essential differences to Cube-hardware.
We are in the unfortunate time when fiscal decisions have to be made and no devkits are given away or releasedates are announced (My, I sound like Lemony Snicket!).
    Hence my mistrusting to market-analysts...
I find your lack of faith disturbing!

Wii kits should be getting out there around about now, I imagine they've started REWii and just want to give it quite a bit of time to get it right.

Please don't tell me Resident Evil "Series" means more remakes. And it better not be some Gun Survivor spinoff. Surely RE5 is entirely possible on the Wii (even on above RE4 levels). Hey, RE4 happened for the PS2 which at least shows that when forced to, certain tricks and techniques can be implemented to make a the game work on a "weaker" console. Thinking of it in reverse, porting Metal Gear Solid Twin Snakes to the PS1 is entirely possible.

Capcom make some fantastic games, but they really do seem to be a company shying away from Nintendo's innovation mantra.

C'mon Capcom do an Okami port for Wii. Make the Wii RE RE5. Create a fantastic console-based Megaman game again. Bring Devil May Cry to Wii.

Goes to show how much faith Capcom have in the PS2 staying a strong force in the console market. They must have a lot of games still in development.

I doubt we will ever see RE5 on Wii. Smilie
The producer of the series (forgot his name) said last year we changed the controlles for GC and now we dont wanna change it again for Wii!!!

But i think we will see a spin-off series for Wii that utilizes the Wii controlls!! There were a few on the PS2!
Lets just hope its not Survier series!!!

Ironically, the Wii version of Resident Evil is more anticipated in Japan than Resident Evil 5 for PS3, by a lot, which doesn't even make the Japanese top ten list!

BEWARE, below you will find a RANT...

After seeing this (PS2 with 33 more titles), and recently seeing Sega's plans to bring out another 30 or so PS2 titles, I really do get pissed off knowing that graphics are not an issue for GC porting, hell even audio isn't (both the GC and PS2 have Pro Logic II don't they?), and the ONLY factor that is the difference between 57ish more games being released for one system is the userbase.

Yes, it makes sense to release games on popular consoles, but I am certainly not going to shell out

Resident Evil 4's greatness prevents me from too much ill feeling towards Capcom. They could quite happily have ignored GC completely - instead they arguably produced one of the top 3 games released for the system.

However, RE4's greatness won't persuade me to buy a Survivor game.

    Ever.

It's surprising there isn't more initial Wii support from Capcom.

Don't get me wrong, an exclusive Resident Evil is fantastic but I half-expected there to be another project slipped in for us. Viewtiful Joe or something.

It wouldn't surprise me if they have more stuff planned, they're just keeping it underwraps for now. They're a big developer, afterall.
