According to French website LiveWii, Smash Brothers producer Masashiro Sakurai went on a Tokyo radio station's "The Gaming Show" recently and talked about the title.

Apparently, Ice Climbers and Mr. Game & Watch were confirmed to be removed, while Young Link will be replaced with a cel-shaded version. Ridley and Bowser Junior will also be added to the roster.

It was also allegedly said that there will be around 40 characters, 15 of which will be new and a few of which will possibly be from third parties. Remember, this is a rumour, and should be taken as such for now.

Stick with C3 to find out if it's true!

Seriously!! It'll be so annoying to get rid of them!! They were 2 of the most original characters in SSBM, original attacks, fighting styles, etc, are they REALLY trying to tell me they'd rather get rid of their first ever game character than a clone like Pichu!? Smilie If people want clones, can't we just have alternate shells? They're so similar that it wouldn't matter, but a totally original character like MRG&W or IC have to stay!!

Geez, if they keep them in then I'll show you how good they can be online! Even if you still beat me, you won't find me a pushover, even as Mr Game & Watch.

C'mon! It can't be so! There could be loads of people who want to show of their skills with them... it's not like they don't have the disc space... not only are the discs bigger now, but the console has a much better memory system than GC, & whether that has to do with anything or not, I can see them getting way more than 40 characters in if Dragon Ball Z games are anything to go by...
