Nintendo News | Mercury Coming to Wii

By Adam Riley 19.06.2006 28

An updated release list has emerged from publisher Ignition Entertainment that shows a snippet of its line-up of game releases for the end of the year. Just check out the list below:

  • Metal Slug Antology (PSP) - November
  • Metal Slug Anthology (Wii) - November
  • Mercury Meltdown (PS2) - November
  • Mercury Meltdown (Wii) - November
  • Mercury Meltdown Remix (PS2) - Q4 2006
  • Mercury Type R (Wii) - Q4 2006
  • KoFMI 2.5 (XBOX 360) - Q4 2006
  • What is interesting to note is that Metal Slug Anthology has already been confirmed as a launch title, which means that since this is supposedly a European release list it all but confirms November as the month of release for the Wii in this region. Also, Mercury was previously a Sony exclusive, yet now two versions of the game are heading to Nintendo platforms as the support begins to mount up even more.

Currently this list is classed as 'unconfirmed', but as soon as we get official confirmation we will let you know.

    No DS games Smilie

Metal Slug confirmed for the Wii though is great!

    PSP games for Wii!?!?

    OMFG SONIC RIVALS!!!.....

    OMFG GTA?!?!?

Wait, I think GTA would completely ruin Nintendo Smilie it should stay off!

EDIT: Ack, now I notice that was incredibly off topic.

It's great to hear about all the support Nintendo is getting, & it also seems that the PSP just isn't getting the fans it ordered, I think many developers are losing intrest to Sony's half-assed methods of... stuff.... Smilie

Well, it's a transition metal element that is a liquid at room temprature, & it's pretty dangerous too I think... Smilie

    i never heard of Mercury........

anyway 3 games for Wiiiiiiiiii Smilie

I see all these people insulting the Nintendo corporation because of the lack of mature content. Yet there is something about Nintendo (at least their games) that strikes a certain unadulterated feeling of joy!!!  Pokemon Y - 1048-9263-5562

Still can't get over Metal Slug anthology for the Wii.Smilie

It's going to be shit and you jolly well know it.

Mercury sounds fun! I heard it got good reviews

mercury is a decent game...not as good as polarium methinks though

but why is there 2 mercury games for the wii? what is the difference? and is it gonna be the same as the psp version or updated graphics and wii functionality etc?
    metal slug is good though!!!

Mercury was classed as being almost as good as Lumines, but never quite reached the same sales levels. Two different versions is fine by me! Maybe one's a spin-off version.

And Metal Slug's been confirmed for ages...You have to remember that this is a list from Ignition, the European distributor of SNK's games, which is possibly why the ports of Metal Slug 1 - 5 on the GBA aren't included and the Card Fighter DS title isn't either, since they might hit during 2007 instead.

    Polarium was a scam...

Gods in His Heaven. Alls right in the World.

    Polarium was brillent.
As Tetris was to the GB, Polarium was to the DS.

Well actually I can't help but think they should have waited and launched it this under the touch generations brand, or mabey even bundeled it with Sodku or somthin.
Came out in that awkward stage when no one knew what nintendo ( don't even think nintendo fully knew) was doing to try and get non gamers.

    Perfect timing Smilie

Metal Slug Anthology better have Metal Slug 6 in it. Unless it appears on the internet I'm not gonna get to play it otherwise. I certainly couldn't go outside and play it in an arcade

Polarium is a pretty darn complete package of a game.

You got main game, pratice, puzzle mode, multiplayer, and designing and swapping puzzle abilitys for the puzzle mode.

The only thing more it needs would be online, and a better save system.

Polarium Advance wipes the floor with the original DS version. It's a far more complete package. If you look at early dev shots of Polarium DS you'll see they're nothing like the final game. Why? Because Mitchell had to cut things out to make launch. Polarium GBA had more time to include extras...

Metal Slug 6, as of this moment, isn't in the Anthology package. There's also a new 3D Metal Slug coming to the PS2, if people are interested.

It dosnt exactly whipe the floor.
Sure its got more puzzles, but Challenge mode is gone!

    I mean, seriously..completely gone.

Of course, a grossly inferiour controll system would probably make challange mode impossible, so i guess thats why.

Well, really, to tell the truth, Polarium, & no other DS Puzzle game, really ever caught my eye, so assuming Mercury is a puzzle game (it IS isn't it?) Then I'm not interested, but I might have a look at the Metal Slug Anthology, although that doesn't really interest me either, so I'm just ahppy about all the support the Wii is getting, even with the 3rd party multiplatform titles! Murcury is a puzzle game, but also a bit like super monkey ball.
You roll murcury about by tilting the enviroment.

But it's a liquid at room temprature, so it may be a bit harder than Super Monkey Ball...

Wow, I never knew PSP had all these educational Science games! Smilie

    I don't get it...Smilie

Well, whilst playing a puzzle game, the players shalt be learning about the Scientific properties of Mercury, I reckon that on the extra cold levels you'll be a ball of metal, but on most levels you'll be a blob. Smilie
