Hey, a question. On the C3 lite version of this article, is there any chance you could make the review links, er, link to the actual C3 lite version of the, er, reviews? I know its kinda pointless for me now that I am on the actual net, but on my phone i cannot receive the whole site, but I can get C3 lite. The topic here talks about that. Thanks Smilie

You finally got the review versions!!! Awesome, they're both brilliant RPGs & they need to be played, it's a shame the GBA is so dead in UK you can hardly find even brand new games anywhere, it seems that older games are more common.

But YAY!!!

I have to say though.... I honestly find Tales of Phantasia a lot easier than Final Fantasy IV, because some of the final moon dungeons have random battles as hard as bosses, while I managed to sweep my way through ToP just fine!

Unless there's a super secret dungeon I havn't played that's oincredibly hard!! Smilie

Strange, perhaps it's because I've played many old Final Fantasy games, but never managed to get completely through the fan translated SNES version of ToP!

Anyway, I love both games and ToP was criminally overlooked, with FFIV only faring slightly better.

Just think, play these wonderful RPGs on your DS, then flick online using the system to check out C3! Smilie

Anyone (other than STP) played/bought these games, or considering to make the purchase?

Playing through FF4 now, good game but not as ecstatic about it as Raz. The graphics I'd put down at about 4/10, very basic with little detail that barely captures the essence of the characters. Pokemon Advance has better graphics and it doesn't even compare to Golden Sun.

Exactly. I don't think it deserved a 8 or 9. More like 5. It was all square and sharp edged.Smilie

For an early generation SNES, touched up, it's certainly worthy of a high mark. FFIII on the SNES still looks amazing today, and they've managed to get this FFIV port to that same standard, without any slowdown.

It can't be compared to Golden Sun, since that was built from the ground up. The Pok

I love it, for the fact of Brilliant story, great turn based battle mode, great characters, great places, & the fact that a game takes me more than 3 weeks to complete. Fucking hell CYBT!?!?!

STP, which is your favourite out of the two then? Clearly the UK public recognise the FF brand more, which is why it sold better...but I think it's unfair how ToP bombed in sales.

But considering the upgrades and the smaller screen resolution, at times it does look more impressive than Golden Sun's jagged-edged graphics. Sure, Camelot did a superb job of squeezing the GBA for its new series, but I wouldn't expect much more for a remake. I'm surprised we even got this.

Square Enix could have easily just ported the original visuals, not bothered with extra content and it most likely would have still sold.

Thankfully, though, effort WAS put in, unlike many other cheap ports (which is how I graded it, comparatively to other ports). Not every game can be overhauled like FFIII on the DS...

I'm really not sure what I prefered, they're both great, I prefer ToP because it's longer, more character development, & better story (IMO) but FFIV has a better battle system that I get less tired of, it's simple & easy to use again, but in ToP, it can be really hard sometimes, I still love them both.

I might prefer FFIV more because I havn't finsihed it yet, a lot shorter but a lot harder, the last dungeons on the moon are really hard. Smilie I honestly think that FFIV is a lot harder than ToP

I'm glad they touched up FFIV a little, I mean, it would take them an Age, they ARE remaking all the FFs I-VI (III on DS) so it would take them AGES to completely remake all of them with Golden Sun quality, besides, the game was designed with the Zig Zag, the maps may have to be changed a lot if they added Diagonal, I think it's fine, the remade music is also great, & we get a new dungeon, infact, it's perfectly fine considering I never played the original on SNES or PSOne, so it's great for FF n00bs.
