EA have released details of their full Wii development plans for the first time and they are looking hugely impressive. The gaming giant is set to unleash no fewer than six Nintendo Wii titles. The dedicated Nintendo Wii team will be delighting gamers the world over with Madden NFL, Need for Speed, Harry Potter, Tiger Woods PGA TOUR, SSX and The Godfather. Each title will remain true to its normal style and general feel but will be developed specifically for the Wii, or as EA put it "custom-designed". Expect to see full controller integration and use of all the console's innovative features. Additional titles currently under development will be announced in the coming months.

"Once we started to experiment with Madden on Wii, there was an explosion of innovation. Everyone in the studio is energized by the creative opportunity afforded by both the hardware and controller. By reaching into our catalogue, we are able to bring a fresh and distinctive experience to some of EA's most popular franchises. Creatively, the game play possibilities are staggering and endless," said John Schappert, Senior Vice President and General Manager, EA.

"Nintendo is excited to see the broad array of signature franchises that EA's talented development teams are designing for Wii," says Reggie Fils-Aime, president and COO, Nintendo of America Inc. "The combination of sensational games with Wii's unique play control will thrill players and breathe new life into video games."

We'll have more information on all EA's Wii projects just as soon as it is made available.

"Many people dislike EA...these people are fools"

    a) EA makes 1 game I like out of every 200 or so they make
(Spore looks to be their next rare gem)

    b) EA has horrendously bad work pratices.

    c) EA eats up companys and spits out their IPs. (See: Maxis, Westwood, Bullfrog ect)

So, yes, call me a fool, whatever.

But anyone that looks at the market can see EA is makeing this industary very unplasent to work in.

To be fair, both Maxis and Bullfrog had produced some iffy titles and werent exactly rolling in cash. EA's backing means Will Wright had the time and money to invest in products like Spore. Without those crappy generic titles maybe that wouldnt have been possible.

Sure, they are a big company, just like nearly all big companies they are a bit evil and don't do everything with a sugar-coated smile. Hardly shocking news. In terms of industry investment and support of Nintendo they are top-notch.

HATE EA games. They take perfectly good movies and spoil them with a half arsed attempt at a game, that funnily enough make it to the top of the charts because spoilt children beg their mums to buy them it.

Good to see 1.) They're supporting the Wii, 2.) They're going to add extra features.

    It's something at least!

And how much money did Wright make for them by having 2 billion odd Sims Add-ons?
Also, Spore has been long in development, but by a very small team so its cost are pretty low.
(the procedral content technique itself allows them to not need nearly so many artists)

Bullfrogs/Maxis's quality ratio was a hundred fold higher then EA's, so I dont get the first comment at all.
Give me Themeparks, hospitals, Magic Carpets, Sim Citys, Pinbals and Marble Drops over EAs typical produce any day.

Typical person that didnt read what I said.

Nintendo and Ubisoft are big company, yet they produce a heck of a lot better games.
Heck, even Sony does a much better job. Microsoft also.

Being "big" dosnt give anyone any excuses.

    Typical black and white thinking.

"All big companys are evil, therefor EA is ok"

    Gezz.

Just because nobody is perfect dosnt mean some arnt worse then others.
EA is by far the worst.
    Simple as that.

As for Nintendo support...err..why is everyone so excited?
These are all ports of existing games.
Its certainly not bad news, but its also nothing to really praise them for.

Godfather!!!! Didn't see that one coming Tiger Woods could be good the GameCube ones always scored high and with the Wiimote implmentated it will be alot better

Mike Gee of iZINE said, "...The Verve, as he [Richard Ashcroft] promised, had become the greatest band in the world. Most of the critics agreed with him. Most paid due homage. The Verve were no longer the question mark or the clich? They were the statement and the definition."

It's a falsity when people say "EA games are teh suckorz, lol" because Madden, NFL and Tiger Woods are the market leaders. Granted, the yearly updates to screw us out of money are still there but the games are very good. I for one am pleased that we're getting the full gamut of EA sports titles... with the exception of Fifa

You'd think FIFA would be the best football game in the world ,with each installment being better than the other... but in reality it's as if they deliberaly make every other year's game bad, so that they look good when they put it right for the next years game, and so on.

That's not a bad theory. Also they cannot just copy PES as it'd show a loss of face, so they have their own warped view of football that plays more like MOTD than it does real footy.

I hate EA as much as the next guy, but I have to say that the company seems to be doing a lot to keep this next generation fresh. To me it seems they could have simply ported the games from the PS3/360 to the Wii and simply used the GC controller. Instead they are utilizing the Wii's features, which shows a desire to innovate.

In short, great news, this is.

This is good news. Sure, they won't be innovating too much, but at least they're supporting the system substantially, all we had previously announced was Madden. They have more in development too, so with any luck there's some original stuff in the pipeline.

It's just sad that in order for a games console to survive these days it needs a 'huge money focused monopolising rehash with no originality' type company such as EA.

In a way, it's a good thing the Dreamcast didnt suffer from these games. Many look back and are forced to see the excellent games the system had because they are not swamped by loads of EA bollocks that the general public would usually buy.

Didn't EA change all of thier work practises after someone publically posted the bad hours they get and lack for pay in an online journal.

Good to see more support. I can't help but feel that EA won't use the Wii-mote well.
