Nintendo Wii News | EA Confirms Six New Titles
Related Stories
EA have released details of their full Wii development plans for the first time and they are looking hugely impressive. The gaming giant is set to unleash no fewer than six Nintendo Wii titles. The dedicated Nintendo Wii team will be delighting gamers the world over with Madden NFL, Need for Speed, Harry Potter, Tiger Woods PGA TOUR, SSX and The Godfather. Each title will remain true to its normal style and general feel but will be developed specifically for the Wii, or as EA put it "custom-designed". Expect to see full controller integration and use of all the console's innovative features. Additional titles currently under development will be announced in the coming months.
"Once we started to experiment with Madden on Wii, there was an explosion of innovation. Everyone in the studio is energized by the creative opportunity afforded by both the hardware and controller. By reaching into our catalogue, we are able to bring a fresh and distinctive experience to some of EA's most popular franchises. Creatively, the game play possibilities are staggering and endless," said John Schappert, Senior Vice President and General Manager, EA.
"Nintendo is excited to see the broad array of signature franchises that EA's talented development teams are designing for Wii," says Reggie Fils-Aime, president and COO, Nintendo of America Inc. "The combination of sensational games with Wii's unique play control will thrill players and breathe new life into video games."
We'll have more information on all EA's Wii projects just as soon as it is made available.

As I said in another thread. Just because some people don't like EA games (specifically the sports ones) doesn't make EA a bad company or those people wrong.
I think it's pretty fair to say that EA (Sports in particular) don't make games for gamers. They make games for sports fans who want to play games of the sports they love. With the licenses, the commentry and the excessive use of statistics EA Sports are simply giving the people what they want.
Much like Nintendo want to expand the market beyond the hardcore (who are fairly sneery when it comes to EA), EA want to sell games to non-gamers. Quite simply, there's more of them than there is of us. Movie and sports licenses are the easiest way to do that.
The games they produce might not be up to the standards us gamers expect, but they easily surpass the requirements of the consumers EA is aiming at.

And not all EAgames are Kryptonite. A lot of the Non-sports titles are really good.

This is an art attack!

I don't like sport-titles, so I can not say if they are good. I do not buy them, So I do not need EA.
I played (not bought!) The Two Towers and it was good, solid made and fun. But not an extremely good game! Need For Speed is also not that good, but again: Me'se not playing racing-games.
I play a lot of Ubisoft-games like BG&E, Prince of Persia and so on. I do not need EA...
But EA changed the working conditions, because everyone went to Ubisoft, all the people ran away.
EA is not one of the innovativ companies out there. Even Microsoft goes everywhere and buys the good games. Ubisoft, being nearly as big as EA, has a lot of wonderful games like Prince, Red Steel (I assume), Beyond Good and Evil and so on...
The one good big comany we all like and which is innovative is... guess: Big N!

They are dead, but I imagine some of their programmers are still about in a studio somewhere, whether it's EA or not, and the IPs certainly will be. I've been craving a new Theme Hospital for years. Dungeon Keeper 3 would be awesome too, good call!
