Nintendo News | Game Convention Conferences Announced

By Mike Mason 31.07.2006 39

With the Game Convention approaching fast, taking place in Leipzig, Germany on 23rd - 27th August, the organisers have decided to release a list of conferences. We've rounded up some of the more important ones for you below. All times are in 24-hour formatted Central European Time, and they are all scheduled to take place on the 23rd August:

  • Electronic Arts | 09.15 - 10.00 | "Highlights 2006/2007"
  • Nintendo | 10.15 - 11.15 | "Wii Prove Our Promise"
  • Konami Digital Entertainment | 11.30 - 12.30
  • Ubisoft | 12.00 - 13.00
  • Microsoft Xbox | 13.00 - 14.15
  • Electronic Arts/Nintendo | 14.00 - 15.00
  • Square Enix | 16.45 - 17.15
  • Sony Computer Entertainment Europe | 17.00 - 18.00
  • We believe that CET is currently two hours ahead of GMT at that time in the year, so subtract two hours from each of these times for the UK time (thanks, TimeZoneConverter!).

It's uncertain what Nintendo will be announcing, or even if they'll show us anything new (we suppose it depends on how they're feeling at the time), but with them supposedly not showing up at the Tokyo Game Show in any way, shape or form then it's likely we'll hear something new. Apparently, the French Official Nintendo Magazine has declared five new titles will be on show, too, though this can't be verified at this time and must be taken as rumour.

It's very interesting to note that, in case you didn't notice, both Electronic Arts and Nintendo have two conferences, their latter ones being a collaborative effort. Could EA and Nintendo be planning to unveil even more titles, or could they just be demonstrating the already announced ones in more detail?

You can see a complete list of the conventions, including ones not listed here, in all their German glory here.

Stick with C3 for more as it comes!

Ooh, actually, they were supposed to be developing Donkey Kong Wii, so maybe that could make an appearance.

Yeah looking foward to seeing them gamesI would also love to see more infomation on Fire Emblem and Disaster: Day of Crisis, and it would be great to see if see shiggy's new IP would make a apperance although their's probably no chance of seeing that that. But most of all please let them release infomation on the Wii lanch date and price.

    official Nintendo press release;

the wii will launch with mario, mretroid, zelda, mario kart, donkey kong and SSBB for

Mike Gee of iZINE said, "...The Verve, as he [Richard Ashcroft] promised, had become the greatest band in the world. Most of the critics agreed with him. Most paid due homage. The Verve were no longer the question mark or the clich. They were the statement and the definition."

i have to say that it is a bit weird for nintendo to have their own conference and then one with EA. it is more than likely that the first EA conference will focus on xbox and ps3 and then the second is wii games only as they do have atleast 6 to show off and explain gameplay and stuff.

the nintendo one is very interesting. i mean the title "wii prove our promise". so what has nintendo promised with wii. easy to play games, that look great, innovative gameplay, cheap console.
what will they use to prove it. expect new games revealed and a closer look at the likes of day of crisis, zelda, kid icarus, VC, metroid, mario, wii motor sports
(maybe). but to be honest i think that one game that, from what we've heard, could prove their promise is sadness. expect the announcement.
nintendo have something up their sleeve and we'll all see it soon.
maybe a visually enhanced zelda on wii. drooling!!

There is currently Central European Summer Time going on here in Germany, but I do not know if you guys have summer time as well in the UK. If so, then you are only one hour ahead, but I used to watch Cartoon Network waaaaay back and in these times they were 2 hours back from CEST. Please check it via a website or something, because I do not know if you guys have summer time ober there...
Thanks! I wanted to know that since the Wii-press-conference at E

I find your lack of faith disturbing!

I hope they do release something big...Although I must say I cannot think of anything else that they could show usSmilie

    MARIO KART WII!

It's far out, but a man can dream Smilie

    Nintendo | 10.15 - 11.15 | "Wii Prove Our Promise"
Have massive hopes for this one as probably everyone hear does would really like to hear news on Donkey Kong Wii and Pikmin as well as more info on Brawl, ie new characters and want more screens or videos of Zelda we really no fuck all about it and maybe just some info on Resident Evil Wii since ONM exclusive fell through and CAPCOM don't have a stand.

    Konami Digital Entertainment | 11.30 - 12.30
Will probably be a confernce detailing how muck Konami and Sony are in bed together and some Konami guy and Sony will probably hug on stage, but hopefully we get to see more of Pro Evo DS and Castlevania, as well more info on the quirky Elebits which looks really good craic and just hopefully Konami say they are making a Pro Evo from the ground up for the Wii with online (na fuck i am dreaming there)

    Ubisoft | 12.00 - 13.00
Ubisoft are for me probably the most talented developer for me after Nintendo and CAPCOM, really looking forward to seeing more info on Red Steel and Rayman both look great and hopefully some news on Brothers In Arms for the Wii.

    Microsoft Xbox | 13.00 - 14.15
Showing games that are identical to the xbox games but just with better graphics and will bore you to death.

    Electronic Arts/Nintendo | 14.00 - 15.00
This one is intersting, they will probably show how all there franchises work on the Wii remote, with the usual games maybe they will show how alot of their sports games work with wiimote, which has great potential and really but what we all want to see confirmed is an online multiplayer Burnout come on and a LOTR game wouldn't come unnoticed.

    Square Enix | 16.45 - 17.15
Probably showing a shit lot of games and quite a few for Nintendo platforms might see FFCC version of either DS or Wii, one for the RPG heads.

Yep, I checked it, that's why I put in the link to the TimeZoneConverter website. Smilie Germany is currently two hours ahead.

    Perhaps, would be good.

Perhaps not a dream. Konami have confirmed they're working on a football game for Wii, they've just shown nothing of it yet.

Mario Kart Wii is a possibility, but I think they'd save that for a bit longer. Animal Crossing Wii first look, maybe? Maybe we'll get the Heroes trailer officially presented too. There's also the possibility of seeing Miyamoto's new IP, which is supposed to be an 'Iron Chef' type game and more on Project HAMMER, and Disaster: Day Of Crisis (really hope so on that last one!).

I have no doubt that an all new Wii version is at least in testing stages.

Both of those would be sweet. I am really interested in Kid Icarus, how it will be adapted into 3D.

I checked this world-time-map and it says London is only one hour back, having summertime too - that's why I am always confused with the two timezones. Are you sure, Mason?

Thats crap. Have you played these games, or are you judging on fanboys and forums?

Personally, Ben: I saw some of the games at a friend's home and they are okay, but overall boring stuff: always the same. Even Kameo, which I hoped to be smashing, looked mediocre. The best game by far was this Plasma-Pong-Asteroids-game you got with Project Gotham Racing. There are some japanese RPG for 360 which are looking good but will sell like crap (360 and JRPG? doesn't work, guys), then all the same FPS, WWII-Shooter and come on: Heavenly Sword was not the big whoop. Some uncoordinated fighting, looked like Dinasty Warriors with less enemies. That's why Mason said that.

But I am eager to know what EA and Nintendo have to offer, since they have their own conference...?!

I hope I get something from Disaster and Project H.A.M.M.E.R. They sound well and I know nothing of them both!

I find your lack of faith disturbing!

I'm going off http://www.timezoneconverter.com/. You can put your time and date in and get it to convert it to and from whatever timezone you like on a specific date, and on the 23rd August it says that Germany is two hours ahead.
