Classic games developer System 3 have announced various projects in the work for both Wii and DS, including two Wii launch titles, some of which are attempting to revive franchises lost in the gaming past. According to Games Asylum, the company spilled the beans to UK magazine Retro Gamer.

The Wii launch titles are Gottlieb Pinball Classis and a golfing simulation, Leadboard, to be released alongside the console later this year
The first port/remake on the cards is Impossible Mission. Impossible Mission dates back to 1984, the original being for the Commodore 64 console, involving all the sleuthing skills and top missions to stop an evil professor from destroyin the world. The game is now returning to the DS and PSP in its original glory with two new characters and a co-op mode to boot.
"If Impossible Mission was to be put into 3D it would cease to be Impossible Mission and would only be using the name as the hook,"
System 3's CEO Mark Cale.
California Games is another Epyx original that's seen numerous ports in the past, and now comes bundled with Summer Games 1/2 as unlockables. Last, but certainly not least, the hugely popular Last Ninja franchise is heading on over to the DS/PSP, featuring the complete Commodore 64 trilogy in a single package update. Super Fruit Fall, a puzzler, is going portable and heading to the DS/PSP in November.

Yeah, I definitely enjoyed Last Ninja II. The dungeon with the spider scared the shit out of me everytime I played it though!

Yep, all the LN on the DS! I read up for this report and didn't know there was a GC/XBox version too.
Good to see two launch titles for the Wii too (both exclusive it seems), some good stuff here!

i have to say that most of this doesn't appeal. i mena they could update a few things. not in 3d but do something with the graphics or whatever. by the sounds of it they are just direct ports and a bit of a money making exercise. i think they should have put this on the VC instead. as for the wii games, pinball no thanks and another golf game. how many golf games are we gonna see at launch now. 3 or something its a bit much and mario golf will come. so now we have wii sports golf, this golf game, pangya golf, tiger woods golf and mario golf most definitely in poduction oh and maybe even a port of camelots golf game if they can be bothered. thats a lot of golf fo one console.

Amtrid,I couldn't have said it better. Why should we have to pay full Wii price for a port of a dated game that really should be found on the virtual console? Nintendo shouldn't allow such nonsense to become a trend....!!

Gottlieb Pinball made quite a good score on the other consoles recently in german Gamepro. Not bad made if you like these kind of games. A good flipper-sim is quite enjoyable, but I do not want to spend money on it - or on more than one title.
I have one on Mega Drive (Genesis) and it is quite funny, even on 2D.

OLU,
You won't have to pay full Wii price for dated classics. The Wii games are new. The DS games as the dated classics. I agree this does smack of "easy money"-itis, but that doesn't stop me wanting to play the Last Ninja trilogy all over again.

Hey! Use two Wiimotes! One for each flipper! Shake them in any direction to tilt the table! Pull back and push on the right Wiimote to launch the ball! I'm a genius!
