Nintendo News | Asphalt Urban GT 2 Confirmed

Ubisoft have confirmed that that Asphalt Urban GT 2 is in development for both the DS and PSP from Virtuous and Game Source, with an earlier release for DS bringing more modes, vehicles and surprise music additions.

The original has been acclaimed for providing "generous content and engaging game play", growing into a unique racing brand. The sequel takes it up a notch with six, six game modes, 30 different tracks, 36 licensed cars/motorcycles and various tuning options. Whilst racing through the mean streets, backing music comes from Moby with appearances from the Pussycat Dolls, how exciting.

"Ubisoft is excited to introduce the follow up to one of the best selling racing games on the Nintendo DS. Asphalt Urban GT 2 is the most feature-rich racing game available for handhelds and will provide gamers with an exhilarating street racing experience."

We're sure it will. Asphalt Urban GT 2 hits the DS in November 2006, with the PSP in March 2007.

With the exception of Mario Kart DS, all other types of racing games on the DS have been utter pap. Let's just hope that Ubisoft have come to better grips with DS dev kits in order to produce a both visually and playable game that's far superior to it predocessor.

I just cannot understand how so many 3D racing games on the DS look so so bad.

The fucking PS1 has better looking games, but the DS is more powerful!

We should be getting Gran Turismo 1/2 graphics running at 40fps on the DS, not these shitty NFS wank car models etc.

Probably cause nintendo don't make relistic car games, Sony and Microsoft make there own, DS just has third party offerings and generally 3rd party handheld games suck.

The first one was alright...But nothing great. Hopefully this is much better.

You have a point here mate, I think Ninty should start some game like racing etc on their own like other do.

I have asphalt urban gt for ds and its cool!
buuuuut on my phone gt 2 is stupid with low graphic quality.
on my phone gt is very good and its just like the ds
