Activision have confirmed that the Wii version of Call of Duty 3 will not have any online capabilities with Internet rumours stating that the title would have 16 player battles.
The original report:
Reports from the official Nintendo forums are stating that the most recent issue of US magazine, Game Informer, has announced the online features of the multiplatform Call of Duty 3. The Wii edition is said to feature 16 players, whilst Xbox360 and PS3, 24.
Speaking to GoNintendo, Activision confirmed the dissapointing news:
"That was a misprint on Game Informer's part. We wanted to clear up that the Wii version will not have online multiplayer, but is being developed to take advantage of the unique controls and provide an amazing single player interactive experience."
Stay tuned for updates.

Uzoka-SaninIt's Good to hear than it has online capabilities but why 16 players as against 24 for the other consoles?? Anyway, I suppose 16 is better than nothing

jbcubed3.16 is pretty decent, and it's good to know that at least some developers are clued into Nintendo's Wi-Fi service. I would hate to keep using friendcodes though - urgh. They really should come up with something easier.

LurchYeah friend codes are annoying. I think there should be the option when you connect to either allow anyone to join you for all the features or only allow friends. Then you would be able to connect to all those that just want to play against anyone. Friend codes are irritating.
16 players is fine for me too. Nice and cosy

James2t3I have a feeling you will be able to play normally and stuff but the friend codes will be needed for communicating with each other which will kinda suck, unless people spell out their codes in bullet holes in the game.

noneIt's probably to try and compensate for all the horrendous lag that will be caused by people connecting over crappy wifi networks.
16 players is fine though.

FatherMaybe they'll make it so that the friend code is applied to the console instead o the game. Then there would be only be one friend code, which wouldn't be so bad compared to having one for each game.

Yeah, that would make it soooo much better. And perhaps they could have a password for getting into your AC town so that people in your list arae not guaranteed into games like ac?

jbcubed3.Just updated this. GoNintendo got word from Activision that Wii will not have online - at all - a serious dissapointment.
So first we had 16, now 0. Not even offline multiplayer - just single.
Great.

tiamat or tiamat1990Maybe the hardware sucks? I mean the DS can only handle 4 players at a time for some random reason (If it's hardware reasons then all is forgiven). Maybe the Wii only does 8 player online?? That's not good enough for an online console game...let alone a WAR title.

noneIts not the hardware! How can it? I mean Xbox could handle that many, and the Wii is more powerful. Stupid nintendo.

nonePersonally I think it's Nintendo's shoddy-ass online service putting developers off.
But still, they didn't take GC online because "Nintendo don't support it" and if I recall, Sony didn't support PS2 online either but still got online games.
Nintendo have an online service now, and even though friend codes suck balls, it's still an online service...

Uzoka-SaninFine then! As a consolation Activision better make sure that Wii's Graphics for this game are up to scratch! 16:9 480p PLEASE 480p may not be as high as 720 or above, but it still looks grat on a HDtv screen!

Jacob4000They probably just don't have enough time to implement online before launch. That's a real bummer.
