UK Chart Highlights LXXXIII
...Nintendo Gridlocked at the Top

Your weekly UK Chart Round-Up brought to you by stat-man jesusraz. Remember, the images here do not reflect actual sales!

In for the long haul!

Each week is becoming almost a chore to write about here in the UK chart scene, but with Nintendo being so victorious right now that really is nothing to complain about. The advertising for its big games is still pouring forth and definitely working, meaning that with a good push, the Wii will likely appeal equally as much. Or so you would hope...

No movement at the top...

The charts here in the UK are becoming slightly predictable after the launch of the Nintendo DS Lite and a slew of extremely popular titles. In fact, this week we see so many games not moving that you could just look at last week's rundown to see the highlights! But anyway, for those that missed out, Cars is still clinging on to No.1 (despite sliding 15% in sales), with GTA Liberty City Stories going nowhere at No.2, Brain Training holding at No.6 and Big Brain Academy stuck at No.19 over on the All Prices Top 40. There HAS been a boost for Super Monkey Ball: Touch & Roll, though, as it re-enters the Budget Top 40 (which is littered by eight Sims games!) at No.38.

The Full Price Top 40 has Mario still at No.2 and Animal Crossing at No.4, whilst the XBOX 360's Ninety-Nine Nights enters at No.5, Reservoir Dogs is new at No.7, Over the Hedge drops three to No.9 and Monster House falls five to No.10. Dalmatian & Friends slides four down to No.13, Madden 07 is new at No.21, The Godfather shoots up from No.40 to No.22, whilst Worms drops four to No.23, with Pro Stroke Golf entering at No.24. Mario Kart gets a considerable nudge up eleven to No.27, Sega's Let's Make a Soccer Team on PS2 is in at No.31, Lab & Friends drops four to No.33, Dogz on GBA falls four to No.37 and Tamagotchi rounds things off at No.39, down from No.26.

Cars and Over the Hedge once again stuck in the top two slots of the GC Top 20, whilst Chibi-Robo charges back up two to No.3 and Battalion Wars moves back up four to No.5, with Monster House falling four to No.7, VJ Red Hot Rumble up three to No.13, Pac-Man World 3 returning at No.18 and Resident Evil 4 popping back in at No.20. Metroid Prime 2 is still King of the Budget Castle, with Wind Waker up two to No.2 and Donkey Konga down one to No.3. In at No.5 is Spyro: A Hero's Tail, Jungle Beat returns at No.7, The Incredibles is in at No.8, Pikmin 2 re-enters at No.9 and, in what was a flurry of re-entries, Pok

Who would have thought that Animal crossing would be such a hit in the UK after the GC version totally bombed.
I really didn't think mario bros would have leg either to stay in so long, I really thought Mario as a big software hitter had been totally eroded over the years of Mario whoring, the underwheling sunshine and GBA ports.
Plus Brain Training.. i dunno how the fuck it's managed to stay in the UK charts so long! Smilie

Animal Crossing, considering it was delayed by more than two years, reaching No.18 (iirc) wasn't bad at all. But I know what you mean... Smilie

The inevitiable Wii AC should be a big hitterSmilie

I think it is simply the portability of Animal Crossing that has major benfits. Just think if you are stuck anywhere bored out your mind, then you can just go to a different world and do stuff until something happens in the real world. Animal Crossing on your telly at home defeats the purpose of it imo. The DS was just the pefect medium for it. Smilie

Woooooooo!!!

The wii version will be the first one to step out of the N64 world aswell :O, so it will be interesting to see how it looks. Wiiconnect24 should also be pretty good with it.

I'm impressed with how Third Party games are doing on the DS here in the UK as well. Even Tamagotchi is managing to crack the Top 40 for the third week in a row (something like seven weeks after its release!).

I just hope Zelda can do what Mario is doing in the UK and global charts

Hell yeah! It'll be a MASSIVE hit! It'll be like all the ACWW sales... but AT ONCE since people already like it loads!! Smilie

I'm incredibly surprised that the DS is still going strong, I hope Nintendo have realised what makes Mario sell, 'cos I want MORE of games like NSMB!! Smilie

Many believe that's why Super Paper Mario has been delayed, to stick it on Wii...

It'll be a bloody smart move too, NOWHERE will stock new GC games then, SOME PEOPLE can't online shop y'know! Smilie

Yeah, I was wondering about that, tons of the last GC games have disappeared from release lists. Better to put them forward to Wii than to Can them, although DK:BongoBlast hasn't a hope in hell unless they reveal a bongo add on for Wii.

It makes sense to move Super paper Mario over from a financial point of view,if the came was marketed well it could sell a million in each terrority. As for Bongo Blast don't see the point of having it on the CUBE as no one will buy and playing the bongos on the Wii just seems wrong to me, maybe they are planning for a Donkey Kong Racing remember it was planned with for the CUBE early on it's life until MS bought Rare, cum'on Ninty you know you want to.

Don't know where the hell Bongo Blast will go...unless it's reworked to ditch the bongo control.

I can see it being reworked to suit a new Wii control method, to be honest.
