In an interview with Nintendo of Europe, Ralf Wirsing of Ubisoft, who is directing Blue Byte in their creation of The Settlers DS (which is based on The Settlers 2), has confirmed that there is interest in Wii development from the team. Blue Byte are the developers behind the much-loved original Settlers titles.
NoE: Do you have any plans to produce a Wii game next?RW: "I would say we are open for everything. We are making the first step into consoles with Settlers DS. If it is a success - and we strongly believe it could be a success - then there might be other opportunities as well. I had the opportunity to play Wii at E3 and I'm really fascinated about it but we have to think of the kind of gameplay that fits to the Wii."
While it is not said that The Settlers will appear on Wii, it could be a possibility in the future - and even if it does not, the fact that Blue Byte could develop for the system is a good sign for strategy lovers, as the strategy game is their specialist area.
