While nothing new has come from the first instalment it gives a unique and enlightening look at how the console came to be. Awesome stuff! Thanks to whoever it was who posted in the link. Good to see this officially translated - would have posted it when the interview was first conduced a little while back but the grammer in the translations, and wording was shite!

Some good points raised! I look forward to parts 2 and 3!

What I find intereesting about this is that by doing these interviews Iwata is giving credit, complete credit, to his developers for the Wii. It doesn't surprise me that he had many employees that actually developed the system, but it is typical for a CEO to act as though he or she is responsible for everything good in his or her company.

This makes Iwata seem surprisingly humble.

Furthermore, since Wii is compatible with GameCube software, we have not only tried to create something new, but we have also retained some of the old functionality. Honestly, this was not an easy task.

This interview is also on Wii.com and features transcripts of part 1 & 2 and is a lot more interesting than watching people take the piss out of lefties and OTHER unfortunate people Jb
