Dig my Grave quick, nintendo has conquered the Japanese living room!!!!!!!!

Silence is the loudest noise we could possibly hear.

Mhahaha! I am stunned. These little features are awesome! I hope that they confirm external H/D support soon!

The channel idea is great!

A web browser is going to be crap at 480p. Photos could be good- online sharing, anyone?

That's oh so very cool. Looks like they've just about thought of everything for the Wii, great stuff.

Trying to think of a witty signature after 'Hacker-gate'...

That would great! They sooo should allow for cameras that don't use SD cards to connect via USB - that would be a great option to have.

ZOMG upgradeable operating system!!! Wii's starting to get rather grown up, no? i think it's good that they've let you use the innovative remove with apps- that sounds awesome

Hold on.

Is it only SD cards?

Fucking hell. Smilie My camera is xD, my phone a memory stick, and... Smilie

So...webbrowser not at launch?
"Within the year as a download"

Good enough, I guess.

AJAX support is fantastic.

Gmail, Google Maps, Google Calender and all there other fantastic apps.

Heck ,Ajax alone gives the Wii a Spreadsheet and Wordprocessor ("Writely.com") thanks to google.

I hope the text-entery is decent mind.
A virtual keyboard + some sort of glyph/writeing system would be nice.

Best of all would be "Dasher"...that would work so great with the wiitroller.
(Dashers a kind of way to type with just a mouse....very fast)

One thing I would like to see though:
Online video support.

I dont expect everything, as theres hundreds of codecs.
But they could at least cover Quicktime(Mp4/Sor3), Divx/Xvid and WMV.

Online video support.

Definitely! That would be sweeet! If not, You Tube would be our best bet for vids.

Updated this story with some packaging and promo shots Smilie

Google Video still uses flash I think, allthough they may update soon to get better quality.

Divx would be sweatest, as the quality is stunning.
Divx recently launched a you-tube like site called "Stage6", only the quality/size is far better.
Its like a TV.
It would be fantastic to watch stuff like that with the Wii.

On the other hand, Quicktime = Online tv/movie distribution.
So really, with a little codec support lots of functions could open up.

Brilliant news, the channels idea is just awesone.

I also only use XD cards at the moment, hopefully you can plug in external devices as JB says, though.

That would be perfect.

Hopefully they can work something out. My camera is picked up as an external HDD on my Pc.. must be possible to do the same on the wii.

SD Cards are dirt cheap these days, and you can get Card Readers for a few quid. I know it isn't perfect, but still a pretty cheap solution Smilie

Definitely hope they have something like that - it would be great to be able to save/load content onto flash disks or portable H/Ds. I really hoping.

Seems quite likely - Nintendo seem to have gotten to stage 1 of "We'll pull out finger out and support things other than games", here's hoping they'll take it further!

Havent you guys been to the bloody site???!!!! Most of the answers to your questions are right there (mainly the one about the Wiiopera being able to play videos. I'll be right back with the exact page that shows the sites where videos were played.
This is the page

Silence is the loudest noise we could possibly hear.

Indeed, I mentioned it in another thread, but we have quite a few on the go at the moment. Smilie

True enough, I have a built in card reader for my computer which I currently use for my XD card, it's nice and quick so with an SD card I could make transfers pretty speedily..

Would still be nice if it accepted other devices, though - the homebrew world would love it I'm sure. Smilie

Nintendo are on to a serious winner in my eyes with Wii. I liked the thing a lot before. I adore it now - what am I gonna be like after playing it?

The channels are superb, and I love how they've thought of everything, from weather to photo manipulation to all the other stuff. I hope the things like weather reports transfer over here and don't remain a Japan-only thing, I probably wouldn't use it much but I'd still like playing about with it. Virtual Console and Mii look like the easiest things in the world to use too - did you see how incredibly fast Iwata was able to make an avatar of himself? Sure, he'll have practiced it and know where to go for each piece, but still...it's impressive, and shows how simple the controller must be to use. They seem to have put in a LOT of care for the online service, so it was best they didn't go revealing it beforehand I suppose. With this amount of attention, I don't think we should be too worried about online play with the system. I just need to get my wireless Internet working now...

Everything about it, the look, the interface, the number of features both game-based and not, the games shown generally all look good to amazing in gameplay terms, with just a few exceptions, the Virtual Console support (60 games by the end of the year? WIN.)...God, I can't wait for Wii.

Interactive channels? That is soo cool!! What happened to Nintendo being about games "only". Smilie

This is really awesome; I am excited! I wish I had money! I want a pony! Smilie

This whole article pretty much comes from those pages, links to videos are all there ^.

I just need to get my wireless Internet working now...

My god, I don't know how you did it but..

You fixed my router!

After reading your comment you reminded me about my router being a bitch and me having to return it, so for some reason I decided to plug it in and test it again.

ITS FIXED.

Mason you're magic, cheers. Smilie

I deserve a prize. Smilie

I need to buy a router. My Nintendo USB adaptor is literally broken, a connection has busted inside it as I discovered the other day. No wonder it's not been working. Naturally I tried 'fixing' it (read: I poked the connection back into place repeatedly with a letter opener - hell, it worked with putting my PS2 controller prongs back in place!), but to no avail. Ah well, there's a fair priced Buffalo one that looks decent that's designed with Nintendo WiFi connection in mind specifically, it's about

Prize = Lego Star Wars game. Smilie

On the subject of online play, (I'm not sure if this got mentioned or not, but just in case it hasn't as Mseny and JB mentioned it: )

Moreover, the message with the photograph can be sent to the friend and the family by using WiiConnect24 that is the function to connect with 24 hour Internet.

So, online photo sharing = yes. Awesome. Smilie

More translations:

The relation between the television and the Internet changes with the family in one means to confirm the hot poo increasing, and I think that existence in the home of the game machine changes.

Smilie

The communication of this message can be done between Wii of the friend who registered the friend, and can be exchanged with family's cellular phone and the mail of PC.

Interesting... practically E-Mail right there.

I was thinking the Lego Star Wars game anyway - that'll do nicely. Smilie

Bloody hell Nintendo have really gone to town, I love the avatar thing that sounds wicked. Ohh and the packaging is a beauty. Ill have to look at all the other news too.
