Nintendo Media | Wing Island Details, Screens and Artwork

By Jorge Ba-oh 20.09.2006 10

Hudson have revealed some fresh details and media from their upcoming Wii launch title Wing Island on their official website - a unique, exciting flight simulation that puts players closer to the flying action with the Wii-mote. The company recently revealed the title as in development, with Nintendo confirming that it would make the launch period in Japan.

Players use the Wii-mote to mimic an aircraft - much like the E3 demos of the young boy moving his remote around like a model plane. Using tilt sensors, the remote can allow the on screen plane to climb the skies, barrel roll and manoeuvre through the various courses on offer.

For those wanting support in the skies, Wing Island allows players to take charge of a squadron of various crafts to help perform specific tasks and overcome the selection of available missions. Two players can go head to head in a series of competitions also!

  • Nintendo's Wii remote acts as the yoke of the plane! A motion sensor relays aircraft control, producing flight simulation like never before!

  • Multiplayer support! See who can pop the most balloons or have a sky racing derby!

  • Unlock more planes! Planes get faster, stronger, and even easier to control.

  • A variety of missions and environments await you and your team of sky workers. Do you have what it takes?

A selection of... interesting screens to wet your airplane appetite can be found in the Wing Island folder below.

    Stay tuned for further updates.

Quite possibly the worst graphics since the PS1 era.

    3rd party Dreamcast that.

It's going to be shit and you jolly well know it.

Hmz...it would be MUCH more fun (and logical) if the charecters were all fish no? Smilie

Also, the charecter in the lower right looks very familier.

    Anyway,
Most Dreamcast games looked far better then this.
Low quality assets and poor asthetic choices. (like the GUI is at least twice as big as it should be).

Adding a haze to the horizon would make this look far better too.
(art team? are you reading this, just 5 or 6 polys and an alpha map gradient would do it)

The universal rule with good game artwork is to remove as many straight lines as possible.
The real world rarely has sharp edges.

oh, and add a little smoke here and there too. The air is too empty.

    It looks a bit... beta.
Characters look interesting, I want to see gameplay. what do you have to do? Maybe we should use Wii Sports Plane (the thing the young boy flew at E

I find your lack of faith disturbing!

How many more planes games seriously?

    ?

I seen some videos of it, it looked like it played quite nicly.

    I like the art

It looks clean but in all honesty, if the developer masters the dev kits, the DS could spit these visuals out.

It sounds liek it might be quite fun, but once again it just looks terrible graphically... Looks like developers just not trying is going to be a trend with the Wii...

Now now you are being too kind there. More like N64 third party

Mike Gee of iZINE said, "...The Verve, as he [Richard Ashcroft] promised, had become the greatest band in the world. Most of the critics agreed with him. Most paid due homage. The Verve were no longer the question mark or the clich. They were the statement and the definition."
