Nintendo Media | Far Cry Vengeance and Zelda: Twilight Princess Scans

By Jorge Ba-oh 30.09.2006 25

With some big hitters launching alongside the Wii, various magazines have been pumping readers with new screens, artwork and information. German magazine "N-Zone" has published some gorgeous new screens from two top launch titles - Far Cry: Vengeance and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.

Far Cry: Vengeance (Wii)
Far Cry: Vengeance is a Wii exclusive entry in the fps series, incorporating motion sensing controls for maximum hunting action as players hack, shoot and slash their way to victory in unique maps and levels. The title sure has progressed since the original screens hit the Interweb earlier this month, and should hopefully be a solid launch title alongside the Wii in Winter.

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess needs no explaining. The latest instalment in a classic franchise hits the Wii with the most unique way of playing yet as players become the Hero of Time in an all new adventure. Be sure to read up on our recent hands-on with the game, here.

According to translations, the game will be approximately 70 hours long spanning over 9 main temples after the events of Ocarina of Time. The report also reconfirms that Link's hands will be different in each version

Hmm, I take back what I say about Far Cry looking pants - it doesn't look *that* bad.

Sorry about the small scans though guys, the source scans were a bit bad so I had to shrink em down.

I agreed with you before jb about fc... those reflections in the bottom left screen of the 1st scan have changed my view.

Aye, looks quite nice - although bit hard to tell with the size of the pics. Hopefully should be pretty decent for launch Smilie Dissapointed about the stripped down features though - lack of online is a bit of a letdown, but no map editor is a pisstake.

Why? They don't even look special. Doesn't seem to have much displacement mapping. It's not hard to program a reflective texture Smilie

only 9 temples?

Your joking! what the hell do they think thier doing?. They have taken away 2 of the best features of the game if not the best. Im put of this game now and would rather wait longer and get a better game than getting it on release.

Ubisoft get your act together!

"only 9 temples?"

Oh, you crack me up, linkman26

Oh, I've just seen on the second scan "Basert auf der Xbox version"

I could have sworn I read an interview with Ubi saying that it was built from the ground up. Ah well. Obv not.

What is it with using aged men in combat games? Sam Fisher, Solid Snake and now the guy holding the shotgun in FC:V

Here are some translations from GoNintendo:

[spoiler]- Eiji calls the King of Red Lions in TWW a father figure to Link who kept him on the right track. TP won't have a father figure, but Link will have many friends in the game. There will be one grown-up girl that will be very helpful for him.
- No wii-connect24 or online support.
- The horse is faster than epona in OoT
- The GameCube version was nearly completed when they decided to put in the Wii controls.
- The transition from gc to wii control scheme was quite difficult and they changed it again recently. Now they can concentrate on fine tuning the game.
- When link becomes a wolf his scent becomes keener so that he can find hidden things that he coulnd't find as normal link.
- Eiji vaguely hints that the Twilight Princess will be someone different from Zelda.
- The mention of Biggoron refers to Biggoron's Sword only, which is similar in size to the Darknut's sword.
- Link will have the horse at the beginning, but then when some accidents take place, the two are separated. Later on, Link will find the horse again, and that is when he can name it (at least that's what the sentence structure implies, but it may be a mistake and we can still name her right at the beginning).

The lighting effects on Zelda look amazing. How the hell can you fit over 70 hours gamplay on a Gamecube disc?

Since when is play time proprtional to disc space? Smilie

I was a bit crestfallen at first when I heard only 9 dungeons (even though that is still heaps), but they said 9 main! So expect 9 proper dungeons, that is good.

And I will restress, you will finish the game in much less than 70 hours, I am quite certain most will finish it from 25 to 40.

I doubt that. 70 sounds about right. Metroid Prime 1 took 15-25 hours for most people first time, I expect it will be considerably longer than that.

The newer Far Cry screens look a bit better... But only a bit. The trees in particular still look terrible, which is a pretty big problem in a game where there are trees EVERYWHERE...

Yes, yes, YES. Ocarina Of Time had 8 dungeons, 3 of which were smaller ones. Then, OoT also had those sidequests like the Gerudo Fortress and Ice Cavern. TP dungeons + sidequests = even bigger.

I'm glad it takes place after OoT too, because it was left so open-ended. We may see the Great Flood.

Steam: Guess what?

To be honest Far Cry was on the 360 today in GAME and it wasn't particlurly impressive on the graphical front.

Z how can you possibily know that you will finish it in 25 to 40 hours

Mike Gee of iZINE said, "...The Verve, as he [Richard Ashcroft] promised, had become the greatest band in the world. Most of the critics agreed with him. Most paid due homage. The Verve were no longer the question mark or the clich. They were the statement and the definition."

I think he's basing it on the fact that most games that boast huge gameplay hours are referring to the main game and all the side quests.
Most people don't bother about sidequests because there usally crap. But who knows TP has been in production long enough to have some pretty good gameplay, the sidequests might actually be worth bothering about and the dungens might be really long!

hmmm... I think I get the newest N-Zone and read decent Zelda-tidbits.
Now that're scans I am able to decipher, thanks, Cubicles

I find your lack of faith disturbing!

Is it just me or does it look like there is a Gladiator theme in Zelda?

Link is the one in the blue sports bra right?

Dude yuor totally awesome. And i won't be killing you anytime soon.

Even when you include side-quests most games lie... Tales of Symphonia says 80 hours on the back and I got to the last boss in 40... I spent a few hours doing side-quests but even then it was definately no longer than 50 hours...

It really is looking quite nice. Zelda on the Wii is going to be a hit!
