Nintendo News | Game and Gamestation Wii Update

By Jorge Ba-oh 10.10.2006 40

Quick News: According to various branches of UK retail outlets Game and Gamestation, Wii pre-orders will be ending shortly due to increasing demand for the console.

However, the retailers will be receiving additional stock over other stores as thanks for continued support during the GameCube's decline, according to a C3 Reader who received word from his local branches. Pre-orders may possibly be "first come, first serve" with those who pre-ordered early being given additional priority.

Stick with C3 for additional updates.

I previously pre-ordered (then bought) my Gamecube and original GBA from Gamestation this time however not only did I buy my DS from Game but I've pre-ordered my Wii for there as well for only

yes, I recommend preordering too.
I hope my small 'local' shop gets wee bit of Wii...

I find your lack of faith disturbing!

Well, how long do you think the shops will be resupplied. At the end of november I am going for a two month holiday, do you think they will be restocked by the time i come back?

They should be restocking Wii's by late Jan. However knowing Nintendo it could be a lot sooner than that.

Sweet, I think I will be same then.

Well I am waiting until after Christmas but I hope that all you guys who have preordered get yours when you want them!

More of the games I want will be out after Christmas so I will be waiting for it then anyway and hopefully mabe there will be a black option but doubtful.

I hope most of you have a Wii Christmas.

Woooooooo!!!

Gamestation certainly does do it in order of reservations.

I am 11th on the list, with most of the store staff being the first 5.

You know Crazylurch it's because i'm so excited about Wii and the five games I want to pick up at lauch that I simply had to pre-order it to ensure that I get it for Christmas. Otherwise like you I would have chosen to wait (as I did with the DS and ended up purchasing a lite)hanging on faithfully to the hope that a Black Wii console was in the pipeline not to mention those killer games such as Sonic "Wildfire", Metroid and Super Mario Galaxy to say the least that are gonna come out and dominate 2007. Cool username by the way. Smilie

Game have continued to support the Gamecube? News to me, our local store hasn't stocked anything for months let alone stock the now pretty much Game-exlusive Star Wars Episodes 1-3!

Still waiting for Amazon UK to offer pre-orders of the Wii, thought they'd have been doing this by now!

GAME continued support for the GameCube.... that's balls.

I have mine preordered two weeks ago but now all my money i had saved up for it is getting spend on the formals

Mike Gee of iZINE said, "...The Verve, as he [Richard Ashcroft] promised, had become the greatest band in the world. Most of the critics agreed with him. Most paid due homage. The Verve were no longer the question mark or the clich. They were the statement and the definition."

So, plenty stock was a bit of an exageration then? Smilie

Pfff, just go and buy one in Woolworths or Tesco on launch day. No one pre-orders in those kinds of shops I imagine.

It's going to be shit and you jolly well know it.

You can preorder the Pink PS2 in Woolworth's, and I seriously doubt Tesco will be selling Wii...it just seems too weird.

Yeah, thats wonderful...you can buy PS2s in Tesco too. Can you buy GCs?

Smilie

It's weird 'cos it's Wii, & I'm pretty sure that to Tesco, Nintendo is TEHSUXX0RX.

Anywhoo. I would've thought Nintendo would make at least 2 shipments before the year was out... I really never thought they'd wanna do a 360 with the Wii...

& yeah, GAME, in general, as a company, still supports GC, not in many shops, but in a few shops it IS noticable that they stock new games... & not just Preowned.

In any case, for those who havn't preordered a Wii yet? Sucks to be you! Smilie

Now... how to get the money for it... ^^;

Message to all Wii-wanters: If you don't preorder, pray for favour because you're very unlikely to get a Wii this Christmas Smilie

Well, if Nintendo want Wii out to the masses...then surely Tesco is THE best place to put it.

Yeah, but its not a case of Nintendo asking places to sell their consoles...Tesco obviously has market researchers who base decisions based on how things have happened in the past (i.e. the GC's "success") and remember that Tesco can easily get enough revenue from what it is ACTUALLY the best at selling- food- so I'm not too convinced that Tesco will be lapping up Wii shipments.

Oh, and if it turns out that I'm wrong, ah well, I made my point anyway Smilie

I doubt Tesco will be selling them on release when there probably won't be enough to meet demand in videogame stores. I pre ordered mine about 3 weeks ago so i should be okay as long as i have the money come december.

btw if you're looking to buy one without pre ordering you could probably get one in Toys r us on launch day.

Thank you Mario. But our princess is in another cas- NO, NO, DON'T KILL ME! NOOOO! *Gurgling sound*

Yeah, I got my GC at Toys 'R us on release... no pre order, & they weren't sold out. Perhaps GC might have been slightly unpopular? Never would have occured to me though! I always thought it was like... omg.... Smilie

EDIT: Oh yeah, & like many stores have done with the DS. Many shops have started out selling no DS games & supporting consoles like 360, PS2 & PSP, but due to the DS' popularity, they've started to stock them too, a good example is PC World...

Could be the same with Wii in Tesco, doubt it though.

I hate Tesco ... it's my least favourite shopping destination (apart from the obvious ones ... of course).

Then again, i was assured my local Sainsbury's will be stocking 25 Wii's on release day on a first-come first-serve basis Smilie. But I highly doubt that, my local Sainsbury's has only just discovered the success of the PSX.

I pre-ordered my Wii in GAME for

I don't think there has been any news of the wifi connector yet, but since there won't be any online initially I wouldn't worry.

I know no games will be online initially, but it will be nice to know your weather when you wake up of a morning ... if you live in a room with no windows.

Or to browse google for news and traffic reports Smilie

On another note for you members 17+ years old, GAME are now taking applications in-store for Christmas temp jobs.

If there's enough interest, I'll post scans of the application form for people to use. Smilie
