Nintendo News | Wario Banned From Christmas

By Jorge Ba-oh 19.10.2006 37

Quick News: Wario and his minions have been banned for Christmas 2006. The plump misunderstood villain will not be donning his Smooth Moves on the Wii this year as Nintendo has confirmed an unfortunately delay for the title.

Wario Ware: Smooth Moves hits retail at a slightly later date of January 15th 2007 in the US.

Tis a bit of a shame, at least there's not a huge delay Smilie

So that's Metroid and Warioware delayed for launch...The line-up is starting to looks pretty weak now...

"Ah well there is Monkey Ball or Rayman to pick from now"

3rd party immitations will never be as good...i don't mind the wait...wii sports and zelda (and maybe red steel or trauma centre) is plenty for the month and a bit until then.

Avoid Games Like the Plague, productivity++

ah very disapointed about this not very good news.

i wouldnt call it weak... its still is a great line up.

I see all these people insulting the Nintendo corporation because of the lack of mature content. Yet there is something about Nintendo (at least their games) that strikes a certain unadulterated feeling of joy!!!  Pokemon Y - 1048-9263-5562

Very annoying. Smilie Not sure what my launch line up is now...

"So that's Metroid and Warioware delayed for launch...The line-up is starting to looks pretty weak now..."

Yeah...so only
Zelda, Monkey Ball, Rayman, Red Steal, Trauma Center, ect

Seriously..I am happy.
Means there wont be a "weak patch" in the new year.

I'm pissed off to say the least. I was looking forward to beringing this one out on Christmas day for a good solid multiplayer session. I think I'll have to settle for Wii Play now. Oh well, at least I'll get a free controller...

I hope Excite Truck is coming for launch...they should hurry up and officially confirm the line up!

This getting beyond a joke. Nintendo have really got to get thier act together. I just bloody ordered Starfox for DS thinking it was out today and I find out it's been delayed to January. WTF it's already out in America ages ago, what else can they do to it to make it be delayed?. Now I find out that Wario Ware has been delayed, argh Nintendo are becoming such nobs and i'm starting to move away from thier consoles because of this.

what else can they do to it to make it be delayed?

Nintendo of Europe and UK may have their hands full with Wii and coordinating other games for launch. I don't think these guys are sleeping much these days. So there may be reasons for delaying. It's not done with throwing out just a bunch of games coming back from packing stations and module-factories, mate.

hm... I was not gonna pick up Wario, but it's a bit of a shame. Many have anticipated this game for Christmas. But hey, it's only delayed for a minor number of weeks. So you have to spend all the vouchers got at Christmas anyway, what's the hurry? You all got Zelda and Red Steel to play...?! Okay, no Multiplayer. But I think launch lineup is still the strongest I ever witnessed.

I find your lack of faith disturbing!

The reason EU software launches later than it does in the US is due to the number of languages that have to be implemented. For the UK market it would be a quick process but everything needs to be translated for all the other main European countries before a title can come out here.

You know what for a N.American launch they have to put into English, French and Spanish.
So really for Europe they only have to put it into Italian and German, it really isn't a great excuse.

Wouldn't say it looks better but from previews i have been reading it all suggests the best monkey ball yet and 90%er.

Why'd you say Banned? Scared me it did! Smilie

EDIT: Dammit, anyway, I'm pretty sad about that, hopefully the other Wii/DS games will keep me going 'till it's released....

Still, bad news, speaking of which, WarioWare Twisted? Smilie don't think it'll ever see the light of day in UK...

Dude, calm down a little.

I for one am pleased to here thats its been delayed. The delay helps spread the quality game releases of the Wii and allows Nintendo to 'ride the launch wave'. Which overall ensures if the system is a success.

Nintendo didn't do this with the GCN and have stated that they want to fix it this time.

Look at the launch titles anyways, there are stacks of titles that are likely to get above say an 8/10 in the review roundups.

-Zelda: TP
-Excite Truck
-Trauma Centre
-Super Monkey Ball
-Red Steel
-Rayman
-Call of Duty
-Farcry
-Splinter Cell
-Metal Slug Anthology

Now even if all of those games don't get that high, there are bound to be a suprise or 2. Now I personally still think that its too crammed up. But still what were Nintendo going to do about it? Tell the 3rd parties to rack of? Well maybe THQ.Smilie

I think maybe there was an element of 'taking the piss-age' in regards to certain things being banned from Christmas because of... Certain religious groups Smilie (Christmas lights now have to be called 'Winter lights' etc...)

I'm actually happy about this. There's too many great games coming out this christmas and there's no way I can afford them all so I'm happy if it's not available to buy at so I have less to choose from. Isn't Warioware Twisted finally coming out in December? I think I read about that somewhere.

I was disappointed at first, but I'll already have two party games by way of Monkey Ball and Rayman. I can wait. Like some of you though, I really do hope Excite Truck makes launch. I want a decent racing game early on, and I don't like the Need for Speed games. Here's to hoping for a Burnout game for Wii in the near future. Too bad Criterion doesn't seem to want to develop for Nintendo consoles at all anymore Smilie

Thats a shame, i don't know what other games i will want now.

Haha that game is gay like the Wii! Haha
