Nintendo Media | Theme Park DS

By Jorge Ba-oh 03.12.2006 26

EA have revealed some shots of the upcoming Theme Park simulator for DS, bringing back the classic franchise for a chance to build and run an amusement park on the move.

The game is based on the 1999 classic from EA, Theme Park World, where players would design their own parks complete with various different attractions, food and more - the aim building and maintaining a succesful park, keeping customers happy and coming back for more.

Whilst we've had the first scan of the game in action, there also are some lovely screens to gawp at:

Please tell this is for the GBA cause im not really buying thats for the DS.

Eh, that rollercoaster does look pretty bad...hope they can smarten it up a bit before release. Otherwise, it's looking okay.

Exactly the type of game the DS needs.

If I stil had a DS, I would probably buy it.

Looks fine to me although i've never played any of the originals.

This looks exactly the same as the PS1 game Theme Park. Excellent game. Hopefully the people will be a bit smarter and not get stuck on a pathSmilie

Looks alright :/

(BTW, you've got the same picture twice.)

Ahhh how I used to love this game. If they don't need to cut the depth for DS version, I'd be happy.

So, there was the original Theme Park, which also appeared on the SNES, Theme Park World and Theme Hospital, right? Then Bullfrog disbanded and we've not seen it again until now, am I right?

I like the look of this. Okay, it may only look like an old PC game, but if the speed is high (the SNES game moved WAY too slow to the point of frustration at times) and the extra content is sufficient, I'd be very interested in this one.

That's the problem... It literally is just the old PC game... The 11 year old PC game. I mean they could have updated the graphics a bit at least. It looks like shit now

I know the DS's graphics aren't particularly special, but, I mean, come on. SM64DS looked nice. Can't this?

Well they have to take into account the screens small resoution.

Seconded. Theme Park is awful in comparison.

You think you've got problems.
What are you supposed to do if you are a manically depressed robot?
No don't even bother to answer that.
It just gives me a headache trying to think down to your level.

WOOHOO! SOME SANITY! RCT was a kick ass game.

That's like comparing... I dunno... Some other game that came out 5 years after another one... Obviously the later one is gonna be better. Personally I found the later versions of Theme Park far less mind-numbingly boring than RCT too though...

I couldn't stand playing the Playstation one..it was painfully bad. Whereas I've probably clocked up over 200 hours on RCT1. RCT3 is always freaking awesome, but my laptop is a bit too slow when running it which takes away some of the fun.

I'm not comparing the original, I'm comparing Theme Park World with RollerCoaster Tycoon, the two came out around the same time. I think few people would call RCT mind-numbingly boring, its a very good game.

Yah, I loved playing RCT, never really thought much of the Theme series of games. Not played RCT3...nearly bought a second hand copy once but couldn't afford it in the end. =/
