Nintendo News | Reggie Confirms Elite Beat Agents Sequel?

By Adam Riley 06.12.2006 6

Following Reginal Fils-Aime's talk of Super Mario Galaxy possibly not coming until Christmas 2007 and how GoldenEye 007 not being ruled out on the Virtual Console, more information has been uncovered from the interview with MTV.

Reggie Fils-Aime talked about how translating the game was quite a risk, despite the success of the DS at the moment. However, he actually thought it would prove to be a bigger hit that it currently has been. He stated:

"I have to say I'm a little personally disappointed. The sales are strong and good. I personally thought it was going to be explosive. The consumers I've talked to who have it love it. But it's really [about] exposing it to consumers and letting them see how addictive this game is. [ However ] the developer has been fantastic to work with and our hope is maybe this could become a new franchise."

Adding to this, he mentioned that the game currently has sold through 120,000 units, although he thought sales would be as high as 300,000 in the US. But at least there is positive news in the form of him talking of a potential sequel...

Well i expected it to bomb and 120k is brilliant and probably guarantee's a sequel.

But from what i have heard it is meant to be great and very addicitive, so i can see were Reggie is coming from.

How well did it to Japan, anyone know ie Raz?

Mike Gee of iZINE said, "...The Verve, as he [Richard Ashcroft] promised, had become the greatest band in the world. Most of the critics agreed with him. Most paid due homage. The Verve were no longer the question mark or the clich. They were the statement and the definition."

Sweet, should be a good sequel - I've seen some top stuff about the wacky lil title.

Avoid Games Like the Plague, productivity++

Exactly - that and Electroplankton both sold FAR less than Band Bros...yet Band Bros. has yet to be translated Smilie

I agree that 120,000 is definitely VERY impressive for the US, especially given the Western songs included are pretty damn awful. I can see why people like it so much, but the music is pretty crap and totally put me off. So I quickly waved 'bye-bye' to my copy!

It says too be contined at the end of the game so I assumed the game was getting a sequal anyway, hopfully a wii version.
The songs arn't bad in the game there just as cheeesy and crap as the japanese ones but blended togeather with the humer and gameplay it works out niclySmilie
