Nintendo News | Australian Launch Line-up Slashed

By Jorge Ba-oh 06.12.2006 21

As the Wii hits Australian streets unfortunate delays have been announced for the software line-up in the region, but fortunately not for too long.

IGN Australia revealed the selection of delayed games earlier today:

  • Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam - Dec 13th
  • Marvel: Ultimate Alliance - Dec 20th
  • GT Pro and Splinter Cell - Next week
  • Far Cry: Vengeance - Unknown

The delay cames from Nintendo's inability to create enough media to support the launch demand. Thanks to C3 reader Mr. Ashcroft for the tip.

Ah well if Zelda's there that enough for me.

I think all of Ubi's games were delayed as well? Maybe i read it wrong.

*Points and laughs at the smug Australians thinking they rock because they are getting the Wii before us*

Eh, they're not really missing anything (from my point of view anyway).

Yeah, but they get to play Zelda a day before we do.

So, they win anyway Smilie

Those are games that noone cares about Smilie

Oh that's fine. They're not important.

So all the good games are delayed eh? Ah well, there's always Zelda....

Well I was just playing Zelda 30 minutes ago on the Wii I got last night, so I`m happy! Smilie I managed to be tenth in line out of 234 at my local EB and those delayed games didn't particulary interest me at all so I hadn`t pre-ordered them.

Meh, the launch lineup is rubbish wherever you look. Just think of it as getting less rubbish, Australia!

We only have to wait a week anyway. But I could've swore my local KMart and BigW were stocking these games

Who was demanding these games?

Is Splinter Cell a UK launch title?

The American and Japanese launch line-ups aren't rubbish and even in Europe it is above par, better than the 360 launch lineup as well as the PS3's in Japan and the Americas, but yet again you would say anything is rubbish that is Nintendo related

Its not very good. The last *good* launch lineup I can think of was for the N64. The Xbox's had Halo but, like wii, thats only one game.

I'm pissed ExciteTruck wasn't a launch title. Zelda, all well and good, but if the Yanks can get it on Launch, why can't we?

The 360's launch was shit, the PS3's launch was shit, and the Wii's launch is shit. I'm not 'picking on Nintendo', Richard. What actually happened here, is that your Fanboy Antenna picked up the presence of a Nintendo product and the word 'rubbish' in the same block of text, and it switched your brain into 'Destroy All Life On Earth Mode'.

Ahh but, Halo was actually a game for Xbox though, wasn't it? You couldn't get it for anything else, either Smilie

Smilie

I love you.

A bit off topic, is Halo 3 360 Exclusive or will that be coming to PC too?

And, for the other unanswered question

It's officially an Xbox 360 'exclusive', but I'm willing to bet that it'll fellow it's predecessors in being ported to the PC fucking ages after it comes out on the X360. Even so, Halo 2 PC still isn't out yet, so I wouldn't hold your breath for Halo 3 PC.

Halo's a console FPS anyway.

Halo's awesome, & so the XBOX's launch was pretty good I guess. Launches tend to suck these days, it's not about getting good games, it's a race to the fucking start line!

US & Japan got some very good Wii games with launch. Japan got Elebits & WarioWare, while US got Trauma Center & Excite Truck, all of which are much better than basically all the Wii games EU/AUS gets.

TP is really the only thing in EU/AUS that saves Wii, even though IMO it's not really a Wii title....

But then again, when you think of it this way...

If Zelda was taken off GC & put on Wii, then it'd be a Wii game! Unless you consider StarFox Adventures & Mario Sunshine to be N64 games...
