The Long Cold Wait (Birmingham)With Nintendo's main UK launch happening in the big bright streets of London various other retail stores across the country decided to follow the Midnight launch trend and among them was C3 reader Neil Flynn as he brings us his Wii launch report.

Quick News: With the release of the Wii in Europe today, Nintendo have updated the Official UK Wii site with a revamped look, registration details and a few other bits and bobs. Thanks to C3 reader Amazingjanet for the tip.
Nintendo are busy blowing their horn as the Wii sells out all over Europe at a phenomenal rate. We've just received a press release detaling the super-fast rate of Wii sales in the UK and have also been doing some digging to bring you a wider UK picture.

Quick News In a mass email to those registered to the official EU website Nintendo celebrated Wii Day and in turn confirmed that you will be able to purchase Wii points from the stars catalogue for use in the Virtual Console. There's also the Club Nintendo logo in the email so stay tuned for confirmation of a similar promotion for the US site soon.

Quick News - Today Nintendo's president, Satoru Iwata, went on record on Tokyo to announce a million Wii systems have been sold worldwide (400,000 in Japan, 600,000 in the US) and that there is a chance more than 6 million will be sold by March 2007.
