Oh Blue Dragon on the Xbox360. Cool! Wait...what!! How is...how come...Smilie

Nintendo still dominates the top ten, but why is Zelda not doing better?

Maybe its because everybody bought the GC versionSmilie

I thought it was because Zelda isn't big there? If not then it's probably sold out.

I'm wating for PBR(Pokemon Battle Revolution) to knock those little kiddies sky high.

Silence is the loudest noise we could possibly hear.

Whoa! Blue dragon did better than Zelda! Smilie

I'm guessing Zelda's position is more to do with stock of either it or the wii- if everyone who bought a wii already has it, I doubt many people would buy it, and so on.

Grrr the two versions (Zelda) are taking sales away from one another.

I think it is more to do with the stock rather than the two versions eating into it sales.

Look at all the sales of all them Nintendo games, no wonder why the Big N are so profitable.

Saw some hardware figures, the DS sold a 250k witht the Wii around 100k.

Will leave it up to Raz to update the rest.

Yup Zelda will have slow ahnd steady sales as most people will get it with the Wii, which isnt fully stocked.

Still cant count out the PS2... which is amazing, top 2 games have sold great! And Pokemon WOW there is no stoping this baby!!

I see all these people insulting the Nintendo corporation because of the lack of mature content. Yet there is something about Nintendo (at least their games) that strikes a certain unadulterated feeling of joy!!!  Pokemon Y - 1048-9263-5562

You realize there are only 435,797 Wii's on the market and 13,023,528 DS's on the market right???

Gods in His Heaven. Alls right in the World.

They still just don't seem as interested in Zelda...they sold nearly as many copies of Wii Play as they did of the consoles...yet very few copies of Zelda. Though if they're only deciding to get one game on release maybe the controller with Wii Play is tempting them.

Chobobo will probably be drounced by the arrival of Pokemon

I'm shocked at the amount of X360 sales in Japan. They really don't like it!

213,412 consoles, 80,348 sales of Blue Dragon. That's a huge proportion of 360 owners who have that game.

And go Pokemon! I so can't wait for them to be released in English.Smilie

Wow!!

Nintendo said they'd flood japan with a million DS lite during December...but that'll never be enough!!!!

And I thought they'd manage to produce more Wiis a wiik than that..

The Legend of Zelda:TLP Sold out on Launch day in North America. The GameCube version of The Legend Of Zelda launched on Dec 13 and sold out on the same day. I'm pretty sure this is what's happening in Japan. A lot of people are interested in Twilight Princess but can not find a copy. Trust me the interest in The Legend of Zelda is alive and well. Furthermore the sales of Twilight Princess would be a lot higher if it were not a launch title and Nintendo could focus on satisfying the demand for the game on a region per region basis. Yet, Twilight Princess is on the fast track to becoming a world wide million seller, over 400,000 units sold in North America, over 300,000 units sold in Europe, and over 100,000 units sold in Japan.

Blue dragon is pretty much the only game making me consider a 360 over PS3 and it's Final Fantasy.

Sakaguchi says he'd be happy with sales of 100,000, which it'll easily pass, whilst it seems the official target is 200,000. It will be interesting to see if it manages that.

Personally, with all the new games released on Thursday, I'd be surprised if it sticks in the Top 10 next week. Just look at the Nintendo first day sales:

DS
Shiren - 50k
Puyo Puyo - 18k
Rockman:
Pegasus - 16k
Dragon - 14k
Leo - 13k
Chocobo - 13k
Naruto - 10k
Kabutore - 8k
SNK vs Cap Card - 4k

Wii
Pokermans - 34k
Bleach - 9k

Was going to post that last night raz but got lazy.

Nothing special thoight Pokemon would have been around 75k and at least 25k for Chocobo, but it's early days yet.

About Zelda in Japan. I think there are 2 parts to this:

First, while Zelda is a well known franchise in Japan, the west is more 'obsessive' towards Zelda (and Metroid might I add). Zelda never was as big a name as Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy in NES days. In comparison, the west were generally untouched by Dragon Quest, and Final Fantasy only became well known from around 7 - so Zelda had had plenty of time to penetrate the west.

Secondly, DS in Japan nurtured "brain training" crowd far more than in the west. Wii inherits the similar image - crowd friendly, light hearted and not smeggy. So there is likely to be less percentage of Wii owners who fall into "hardcore" crowd than here. Instead, that "hardcore" crowd is likely to go for the one which inherits the PS2 image i.e. PS3. We may see a big polarization in this generation in Japan (unless PS3 fails).

But I think in a long run, Zelda will still sell well there. They just won't buy it as obsessively as we do.
