Nintendo Wii News | Replacement Coloured Shells for Wii in Development

For the launch of the Wii, Nintendo decided to only sell the one colour to consumers - white, continuing with the iPod-themed styling of the Nintendo DS Lite. In the future, we hope that Nintendo will release the console in many other colours, but with no announcements on the horizon, we could be waiting a while. However, you may be able to have a different and unique system even sooner, if you're willing to dismantle your new prized possession.

A company called Talismoon, based in France and Canada, have been on the console modification scene for several months, producing replacement cases and skins for several different consoles, including the Sony Playstation Portable and the Microsoft Xbox 360. Now, they hope to move onto the Wii, with the development of several complete replacement shells available for Nintendo's latest console, known as 'Talismoon Evolve for Wii

It's worth noting that this will void your warrenty, so I'd wait until that's expired before considering anything like this.

Yeah I was gonna say, at this point in time where hardware failures are likely, you DEFINITELY don't wanna void your warranty.

tbh...it's too much hassle anyway...I don't care what colour it is and I deffinately don't care enough unscrew my case and fit another. Useful I guess if it's easier to take off and on, for as it said any replacements...though none of my other consoles have ever needed anything replacing. Eh.

As long as colour remote varitations come on the market, i'm not bothered.

I'm very possessive and hate getting things like my wii-mote mixed up with my brothers.

I'm not one for those silicon cases either.

Hopefully, coloured wii-motes will come out some time next year, making distinguishing a lot easier.

Same here, I put my name on my Wavebird, on a bit of sticky tape, might need to do that here, but it might mess up my beautiful Wiimote! Smilie

It's a nice idea, but I don't think casual gamers will do it, only people who really hate their console colour would be bothered enough...

It would be good for more console colours to be put on the market in the future though...

The black one will be released but i think it will a while but it has nothing on the White Wii

To me the Wii isn't released until it comes in black. It's the original colour. The REAL colour. White is to appeal to girls and non-gamers

I used to prefer it in black because it made the blue light look better, but since the blue light hardly ever comes on any more...
