Nintendo News | Kid Icarus, Kirby Set the Pace for US Virtual Console Releases

By Slydevil 12.02.2007 3

With the arrival of the Wii, comes the regular Virtual console news piece, and today is no different. Following recent releases of Super Mario World and Zelda coming to the EU virtual console, comes some NES classics for those across the pond to dip their mits into.

Firstly comes 'Kid Icarus' (NES, 1 Player, 500pts), a platformer akin to Metroid. You'll have to defeat Medusa and restore peace to Angel Land.

Next up is 'Kirby's Adventure' (NES, 1 Players, 500pts). It's your job as the pink podge to steal enemies powers, and help the people of dreamland to sleep peacefully once again.

Lastly comes 'Ice Climbers' (NES, 1-2 Players, 500pts), they've taken refuge from the manic brawling in SSB to make their debut on the virtual console. With 32 peaks to scale, you're sure to get a good share of entertainment from this challenging platformer. Just be sure not to slip.

Kirby on the NES is actually one of the few NES game I found to be very playable.
Didn't like ice climbers in Animal Crossing, never played Kid Icarus hear it's very metroidy in gameplay style though.

This for me is what the Virtual Console was made for.

Mike Gee of iZINE said, "...The Verve, as he [Richard Ashcroft] promised, had become the greatest band in the world. Most of the critics agreed with him. Most paid due homage. The Verve were no longer the question mark or the clich. They were the statement and the definition."
