We've discovered that a new Wii channel has just gone live across the globe, upon the unknowing public. Please greet the aptly named, 'Everybody Votes Channel'.

The service, available via the Shop Channel allows you to answer questions, and compare your opinion to others around the world. Regularly updated, you can choose to see the results of your own country or abroad.

Here's the official details directly from Nintendo:

"The Everybody votes channel brings you regularly updated questions upon which you can vote, simply by choosing one of the two answers provided. You can then check the results and see how your opinion compares with others in your own country and abroad. You can also see how tuned in you are to public opinion by predicting which answers will get the most votes."

    Register up to six Mii's and participate on various different polls. Current hot topics include;

  • 'How do you like your Egg : Boiled or Fried?'
  • 'What do you prefer : Eating or Sleeping?'
  • 'If you have free time do you : Go and party or stay in and relax?'

Assuredly an enlightning experience. Feel free to submit your very own polls as well.

For those who don't have a Wii, here's a short video of the channel in action courtesy of GameVideos.

Be sure to download it free of charge, and share your opinions in the comments section!

Update - And now the official Press Release, with full information on the new channel has been released:

A brand new channel launches today for the Wii Menu providing a quick, easy and fun way to cast your answers to a multitude of different questions. The Everybody Votes Channel allows you to compare and contrast your opinions with those of friends, family and people from across the globe. With a regularly updated supply of new questions to ponder, this is a great way to discover not only differences between you and your family, but also between your country and others!

"If you have ever wondered whether many other people share the same opinions, preferences, likes or dislikes as you, then the Everybody Votes Channel is a quick and easy way to quell those curiosities. From whether people believe in aliens to what they would do if they had 1 million Euros, this quirky but addictive channel lets you find out what others think as well as being a great discussion starter with family and friends!"
    - Laurent Fischer, Marketing Director, Nintendo of Europe.

    Cast Your Vote

This latest addition to the Wii Menu features different general poll questions for users to answer. Three questions will always be offered. These will then closed after a week and updated with new ones. When accessing the main page of the Everybody Votes Channel, users will be greeted with the current polls open and can then register their votes by clicking on their chosen one.

Within hours of the poll closing, the latest regional results of the poll will be made available and will be displayed for each region of the relevant country. Vote ratios for each question will be displayed on the Channel using hundreds of Miis to represent the different votes.

The previous twelve polls that a player has voted on are archived so they can check back on them after they have closed. Each time a new poll closes, if the user has voted on it, it is added to the archive and the oldest one on there is deleted.

In addition to casting a vote, users can also predict the outcome of the poll. Every correct prediction will be added to the player's profile and used to calculate how tuned in they are with general public opinion, which is shown in the 'How Tuned In Are You?' section.

    Fun For the Entire Family

Users are able to register a total of six different players on each Wii console using Mii data and names from the Mii Channel, meaning that each member of the household can have their own say on a poll. The Everybody Votes Channel records all of the votes cast by a player and allows them to check their opinions against those of their family using vote results as well as their 'How Tuned In Are You?' results. This allows users to compare numbers of consecutive wins and overall wins versus losses recorded.

    Worldwide Polls

As well as providing three different sets of general poll questions each week, the 'Everybody Votes Channel' also features worldwide poll questions. These are set twice a month and run for approximately two weeks, with live result updates appearing just hours after the vote closes.

Miis illustrate the global vote ratio and a bar graph shows the results for each different country globally. Players can sort these results by vote percentage, country or in order of prediction accuracy.

    Have Your Say

An additional feature of this channel is the 'Suggest a Question' section, which allows players to suggest a poll topic they would like to see on the service. Each player is allowed to make up to one suggestion a day, the best of which may be converted into a poll question by Nintendo.

Everybody Votes Channel is the latest addition to the Wii Menu and can be downloaded for free from the Wii Shop Channel. The Wii Menu is the starting point for all of the console's functions and offers a gateway to a rich variety of entertainment options. When connected to a TV, the Wii Menu offers a simple interface letting users pick games to play, receive news and weather reports, view and send photos or even create playable caricatures of themselves to use in actual games. Additional functions allow users to download classic games to Wii's Virtual Console.

So how can we use this here on Cubed3? Well, considering we are all allowed one question suggestion per day, why not try to make our voices heard about certain subjects? Want to see Nintendo poll 'Which Japanese-only VC game would you like on the Euro VC?' or something like that? Then discuss in the forum below the best sort of poll suggestions we can all make.

Stick with Cubed3 for further updates...

this is actually a really great idea. Imagine if there were were problem with the wii. Nintendo could easily figure out how wide spread it was, etc. Prior to this, the only way would be an unoffical poll which are highly inaccurate.

Nintendo could even grab Wii owner opionion about future VC titles, etc. and all auswers to polls would be relevent, because everyone has a wii.

it's like user feedback built in.

While I'm sure it is fun or whatever, you've got F.E.A.R., Condemned for 360, Silent Hill Origins for PSP and "Everybody Votes" for Wii. Woohoo!

(I know that's an unfair mix of games, I'm just illustrating a point)

I wonder how much they pay people to come up with stuff like this Smilie

Unexpected! I'm sure it could be quite good to have a random click about on - I hope they throw us a Demo channel amongst any new random oddities they think up.

How very eclectically fun. And canny market research...

68% of Wii users prefer their eggs fried.

Perfect if you want to advertise fried eggs on Nintendo websites Smilie

I've read that one of the first questions on there is 'cats or dogs?' (can't check first hand til I'm home) - if that's a question from Nintendo, I'm going to read into it a bit...

'Which Nintenpet do you want on Wii?' Smilie

WHY would anyone give a toss about that?!
I prefer dogs, you prefer cats. Come on mate, let's check and see what most people in our country prefer. AH! Most people prefer dogs! No way! Yes, now what are you going to do huh? Wait a minute, let's check what all the people in the WHOLE WORLD would rather have. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA sucker! Worldwide most people prefer cats. I WIN!

I belive it's actually very good for free. It would be different if it cost you, but for free it's pretty decent. I like the new black interface going on and it's a nice idea to keep Wii users entertained. I can't wait for more channels to come. A trailer channel would be the best choice, but will it ever happen?

I like the completely pointless aspect to it, as if it assumes you have no life, and that you can spare half an hour of your day to answer the most ridiculously trivial questions imaginable.

Just messed about on it, really like it actually. One of the better laid out channels, along with the news channel. I can see myself checking this fairly often, but I hope they put up some questions asking about demand for future releases, too.

I think it is funny that when you have made a prediction, your character holds up a lolly pop type thing that looks very funny. There are so many nice touches in it souch as your character doesn't disappear, it just runs around to where it is needed next depending on what you click on.

    I really like it! Smilie
