yeah.. in a diffrent colour.. but still the same hardware
Possibly the DVD version, but I reckon they'll make a "Wii Lite" - smaller with features missed out from the original.
PLEASE put a harddrive in, Nintendo! DVD player would also be a plus.
Smaller, JB!?
We won't be able to see it!
I don't think they'd do anything too drastic. DVD version, okay, nothing drastic about that. Sonic (the company) was working on a software based solution for Wii ages ago. Hard drive - well, they'd have to sell it separately too for people that already had a Wii, and then just make it a firmware update. I can't see anything that couldn't be done in original Wiis without a patch or somesuch.
Aesthetically, okay, no Wii Shop Channel download is going to shrink your Wii, but y'all catch my drift, right?
A smaller Wii, is it possible?
Must be the DVD one. Will it make it to UK?
They already said it wouldn't
yeah i thought the DVD Wii is only exclusive to Japan...
we will probably see a Q-Wii in the future but hopefully it will be released in EU
Nah .. I reckon we'll only get the exclusive "European" colours like Tangerine or puke-Green ..
Can't see the point of a Wii-lite myself .. it isn't exactly intrusive now is it ..
To be honest, all I want right now is a bloody USB keyboard .. typing with that remote does my head in
Hold on a minute, the Wii uses DVDs, so why can't it play them?

Thats funny you know, coz Nintey made a keyboard for the Gamecube for which you could only use in 2 games... and now on the Wii wich you have to do loads of typing there isnt one[keyboard].....
I don't think we'll see a Wii with reduced features, since I don't see what non-essential things you could remove that takes up space anyway (you could remove some Wii channels, but software doesn't take up any space). I wouldn't really like to see any features added, because I don't want to buy another one (and theres not much I'd add anyway, its a really good complete package as it is, except maybe for the DVD).
I think if anything Nintendo are just talking about new colours, and maybe a slightly smaller version in years to come.

Then it wouldn't be left with any at all...
The Wii is already perfect.
The DVD should be a software update, NOT hardware, thats just stupid.
"They didn't think it was enough of a rip off so they took it out."
They saved us $10 off the price by not putting it in, you mean.
"Then it wouldn't be left with any at all..."
Yes, its not like it web-browsers, plays kick-arse games, lets you view movies and photos straight off a digital camera and also sends emails does it?
oh, wait it does.
Not that Wii owners like me use any of them, we are too busy playing WiiTennis.
And,you know,
*GAMES*
oh, and random fact;
The Xbox360 dosnt even have a webbrowser.

^^ well done! you tell him!
Oh noes! They wouldn't do that to us, would they? I mean, I just spent the last of what I made at my last job only to learn of what could potntialy be superior to what I just got might be coming out in the near future!?! CURSES!
I can only hope they don't improve it too much as to make my Wii purchase and the long wait for it pointless.
He's not dead, he's electroencephalographically challenged.
Does the 360 need a web browser? The Wii browser is never going to be as convenient as using a PC so why not just use one?

Depends, sometimes it's more convenient, in fact today I used it to show a video to some family that were visiting.
If I had made them watch it on the PC it would have meant them all getting up moving and trying to cram into the 'two-man tops' corner my PC is in.
It's perfect for videos, particularly longer ones that you would want to watch on a sofa/with people, etc, etc.
I'm not saying they're aren't alternatives (media centers, etc), but it still works great in plenty of circumstances considering it's really just free bonus software.
Sweet interview. And she also admitted that the Gamecube is dead.
I don't agree with her on the online play though...

I think not, the current semi conductor technology is configured in the smallest possible heat and space arrangement possible now given current technology.
It was one of the prime directives when they made the console to fufill the aspects size/heat output/energy consumption.
The DVD options will likely come via softare update by Sonic DVD, and the console is likely to stay pretty much the same but will likely be a deluxe version with new deluxe remotes and higher onboard memory capacity, with new colour schemes for both standard and deluxe versions. LS
