Nintendo News | Casamassina Sees the Unknown

By Jorge Ba-oh 24.02.2007 17

With the Wii-remote opening up the potential for new types of games and updates to existing franchises, developers have been hard at work for the console. However, something extra special is on the way, according to IGN editor Matt Casamassina - with claims of unknown Wii projects in the pipeline.

Speaking in his blog recently, Casamassina exclaimed:

There are some potentially crazy-awesome games coming down the pipeline for Wii, by the way. You guys have no idea. I know that's vague -- has to be, but I've seen some stuff that you simply have no idea even exists and frankly, if you did, you'd flip out. Comments like these have a way of backfiring on me and I'm sure some people will be annoyed that I've even brought up, since I'm unable to give even a hint about the projects in question. Others will undoubtedly say that I'm merely making crap up because there's no way anybody can disprove statements that are intentionally so unrevealing. But whatev. I know that if I was in your position, I'd be happy just to know that some very cool, unexpected stuff is brewing somewhere way behind-the-scenes. I swear, when this stuff finally shows up, I'll let you know that I blogged about it way back when.

Truth or fuel for Nintendo raging fans?

Well I like Matt, he was right about the TP controls wasn't he? I think I will believe him, he is not a blind fanboy.

Perhaps, but he seems a bit too dodgy here. I only reported this as he has had some credibility in the past. However, he can claim "I saw that ages ago" to just about anything now..

I haven't been on IGN for a while, but Matt was quite respectable during GC era and early Wii era.

Truth of fuel? Shit I'd take either to get rid of this damned game drought, although Sonic FUCKING ROCKS!(yes I said it, even though I bashed every preview thread I bought the game and it rocks).

Can only be good news right?

If true: superb! Wii needs wacky.

If false; oh well, we'll have forgotten by next week!

Who cares if he has seen anything?
Really, if there are cool games being developed we'll see them when the developer wants to show them.
This is not news.

We obviusly know this is true... we dont need him to say there are some cool games coming out...we know that already Smilie Smilie

What is he doing hes hyping the Wii! Smilie

I see all these people insulting the Nintendo corporation because of the lack of mature content. Yet there is something about Nintendo (at least their games) that strikes a certain unadulterated feeling of joy!!!  Pokemon Y - 1048-9263-5562

Well as Casamassina himself points out, its vague, and in my opinion abit pointless.

It might even just be an excuse for him to use when a huge game is revealed that he can go back and point at saying "I told you so! ...(sort of)".

It's sad to see people get hyped over this though.

It's also a shame to see cubed3 posting a link to that guys blog. What's the point?

Hey nintendo fans, there will be a game coming out for Wii from a developer, and it will be POTENTIALLY CRAZY AWESOME! How cool is that? I have seen them I swear! You want proof? Well when some game is announced I will post about how I posted here that some game was coming out for Wii!

Wow, the most non-news worthy item ever...

Trying to think of a witty signature after 'Hacker-gate'...

Anything that comes from Matt's mouth (Or fingers I guess) is utter crap as far as I'm concerned. If he shouldn't be talking about it he should just shut up. At least that way when nothing happens like it usually does (or doesn't?) we won't think he's an idiot...

Well not as much anyway

I used to trust his blog, but really not since the Halo DS thing that seems unrealistic. Still, this would be nice if it were true.

Halo would not be fun on DS, too frantic. Keep in mind I have still not played MP:H, so my prediction is not so valid. Well I hope it comes out anyway, very much doubting it though.

Halo DS was being developed but then MS forced bungie to pull out Smilie

RUMOUR:
I think i know what all the fuss is about, the Demo channel will be unveiled and will go live on the 8th at 11:00 during Miyamoto's speech with the aid of a very special game* if all the rumours i have been reading everywhere are true, there is also going to be a new addition to the VC also with original content from Nintendo to start. The show preview booklet:

SMG!*- yes that's crazy but imagine the impression it would make on the developers there Smilie

GTFO!

Are you serious?

That would be mega-cool. I just don't see how they'd get a demo (feasibly) onto Wii's on-board memory without it being super short.

Onto the SD card i assume will be the only way, like i say we will know more on thursday by lunchtime, which is quite possibly when the channel goes live. LS
