In an increasing bid to shield children from the evils of the communications world, Californian based faith group are planning to attack with the Wii and other gaming devices with its capabilities to be a way of accessing adult content.

According to a press release found by Kotaku, "the Nintendo Wii gaming console has a wiittle porn problem. That's right; this seemingly innocent family game console has a dirty little secret. It has the dubious ability to access pornography via the internet and most parents are not aware of this fact".

The releases stresses that devices with internet capability, such as the Nintendo Wii, carry the potential for children to access material with parents unaware of the machine's functionality. The report also suggests that although children can be monitored at home, at "airports, Starbucks, schools, and even entire cities give people the opportunity to log on the internet with a Wi-Fi device like the Wii".

The group want to encourage parents to be in the know about what their kids have access to, acknowledging that although the Wii is a fun console for a variety of different ages, it can be problematic when a young child sits at his local coffee house with one hand under a table and a portable TV and Wii beside him.

I agree with them completely. We need to destroy the internet to protect oour children. That is why I never use the internet - ever.


Serious point. We have a church where I reside that rejects aspects of modern society. They are not allowed to use telephones, listen to the radio or watch television. They are also not allowed to have a computer and therefore, shun the use of the internet. You can find everything about them on their website. I kid you not - true story. Oh the irony.

This is not the Amish, it is the Exclusive Bretheren. They drive cars, they aren't complete luddites. They also do not believe in voting at elections, but campaign against the Greens heavily. Weird sect imo.

Actually, I don't see what the problem is anyway.

#1 Like some kid is going to purposely look at porn on the internet without turning it off when he/she sees it.

#2 What's wrong if a kid wants to look at porn? What's wrong if anyone wants to look at porn? Smilie it's not like younger kids are gonna DIE from watching porn.

If they wanna watch it, they will, if they don't wanna watch it, they won't, & to be honest, I don't think many kids uder the age of 12 will be looking at porn on the internet frequently.

it's all being blown far too out of proportion.

I agree that the article posted was propaganda for their cause. I suggest you go to their site Porn Talk Blog where you will see nearly every person give them a bashing over the ridiulous headlining of their article.

Please feel free to transport the comment you all make here onto that blog - it's the only way these people will know how stupid they were ... Smilie
