Nintendo News | Famitsu Readers Quizzed on Multi-Platform

In an interesting poll recently featured on Japanese magazine Famitsu's online service quizzed readers on various upcoming games that are currently exclusive to one or two systems that they would like to see go multiplatform.

1. Monster Hunter 3 (PS3) 316 votes

  • Readers would like to play it on the 360, with good online functions, controller (rumble support) and voice chat.
  • With multiplatform gamers, the online world would be a lot bigger.
  • Gamers want to hunt with the Wii remote.

    2. Metal Gear Solid 4 (PS3) 314 votes

  • Gamers want to see the latest MGS on the 360 given the popularity of the series and the fact quite a few readers already own a 360.

    3. Final Fantasy XIII (PS3) 196 votes

  • 360/Wii as the current PS3 marketshare is not large enough - gamers feel if it were released on the 360 it would be a huge hit.

    4. Dragon Quest IX (DS) 47 votes
    5. Biohazard 5 (PS3,360) 37 votes

    Other comments:

  • Releasing a good title on only one platform, like Dead Rising, is a total waste. Capcom, please!
  • If they release DQIX multiplatform, the game industry would explode.

well thats alot of people opinions Smilie
Somehow i dont think we will see MGS4 on xbox360... wel atleast not the first 2 years... maybe after its been on PS3 for a few years Kojima might release it on x360..!?!?

I see all these people insulting the Nintendo corporation because of the lack of mature content. Yet there is something about Nintendo (at least their games) that strikes a certain unadulterated feeling of joy!!!  Pokemon Y - 1048-9263-5562

why do the japanese what games to go multiplatform onto the 360 - thought no one bought it!?

Maybe you can pick up an xbox360 over there real cheap?

Well the Famitsu poll was done via Xbox Live, which also explains the small number of voters.

One of the reasons the Xbox360 doesn't sell too well in Japan is that there aren't enough Japan orientated games. As has been seen already, if Microsoft release a good Japanese orientated game in Japan they can beat the PS3 on software sales even with having a far smaller user base.

Some titles may benefit from a multiplatform releases, but I think too many sure fire hits on multiple consoles wouold only saturate the market, and shrink console sales, why have any console in particular when there are no exclusives?

I think this is purposely Nintendos reason to make unique hardware so that original titles have no choice but to be exclusive, hense shifting more hardware, this is why Nintendo have announced an upgraded wiimote, to counter Sony's poor 'me too' attempt at the whole motion sensor thing, its in Nintendos best interest to secure exclusive content as I thought it would be for Microsoft and Sony.

They already have there own studios, but to secure great 3rd party titles, you have to buy exclusivity periods, or the whole studio, eh Microsoft?/Sony?
Or create a versatile control system that you can tweak.
Obviously developers want to make a buck from their game, and with higher developing costs, sometimes I think a multiplatform release is a safe bet, but at the cost of the hardware manufacturer, especially if the game doesnt utilise eg, LIVE on 360 or 1080p on PS3.

Its a hard time to be a game developer, but I'd put my money on the runaway success.

Biohazard 5 is already multi-platform though... It just needs to get a bit more multi-platform-er
