Nintendo News | Itagaki Talks Ninja Gaiden DS

By Jorge Ba-oh 12.04.2007 5

With the Ninja Gaiden heading to DS in all-new touch screen style, Team Ninja's Tomonobu Itagaki has been keen to discuss the forthcoming game and has revealed the Dragon Sword secrets in a recent interview.

A summary of the interview with CVG:

  • Ninja Gaiden for DS takes place six months after the original Xbox game.
  • The storyline focuses on "what exactly were the foes that Hayabusa fought in the Vigoor Empire, who created them, and for what purpose? These and other mysteries will be revealed."
  • Players hold the DS vertically to get a good grip on the DS. Much of the action uses the touch screen. The game can be flipped for left handed gamers.
  • Players can use the stylus to point at Hayabusa, enemies or envionments for speedy control.
  • The game won't be as difficult as the console edition, but instead seeks to give everyone the chance to try out the new control scheme.
  • The team has found increased abilities with the DS, instead of limitations. The stylus has come in handy to be used as a quick means of control. "If you use the stylus to slice side-to-side over an enemy, Hayabusa will slash him with his sword, and you can change the type of slash by varying the angle of your slice. You can jump if you want to, of course, and you can wall jump using the environment."
  • Dragon Sword is due for release in Autumn.

Be sure to stick around for future updates..

    interesting

the graphics look great. im wondering if it has to do with the screen ratio when held sideways?

Let me tell you about Proto Culture..

This game looks really good, and i didn't know it was parnt of the main story!!

I see all these people insulting the Nintendo corporation because of the lack of mature content. Yet there is something about Nintendo (at least their games) that strikes a certain unadulterated feeling of joy!!!  Pokemon Y - 1048-9263-5562

Nice, i am keen on the idea that it will reveal what all the malarky on the XBOX version was all about, the game also looks gorgeous and i cannot wait to play it, i also hope they release the original on the VC tonite. LS

The graphics on this look mean! That alone is enough for me to purchase it. How on earth do these guys always manage to make such bloody good looking games...I want them to do a Wii game so we can see it's true potential!
