Nintendo Sales | Wii & DS Storm France, Germany, Spain & Italy!

By Adam Riley 29.04.2007 15

It is not that often that we get firm sales data from countries around Europe, by the hardware numbers for March have now been revealed for France.

According to French magazine 'Les Echos', the numbers for January to March are as follows:

1.) Nintendo DS - 260,000
2.) Wii - 144,000
3.) Playstation 2 - 92,000
4.) PlayStation Portable - 90,000
5.) PlayStation 3 - 81,000
6.) Xbox 360 - 43,000

Remembering that the PlayStation 3 launched at the end of March, that is quite an impressive start for Sony's next generation platform. However, Wii and DS were still the clear victors, with Microsoft's platform struggling as much as reports from elsewhere around Europe have previously suggested.

Add in the latest software chart from tracker GfK and you will see the picture that is being painted:

Suprised at Xbox 360's performance!

bloodyhell.... Nintendo Rule EU! bow down to the conquerer!!

I see all these people insulting the Nintendo corporation because of the lack of mature content. Yet there is something about Nintendo (at least their games) that strikes a certain unadulterated feeling of joy!!!  Pokemon Y - 1048-9263-5562

Complete domination on the continent, maybe with the exception Italy.

I also saw one of the Scandavian countries handheld top 10, i think 8 of the titles were on the DS.

...and none in the Top 20 All Format Smilie PC domination in the Scandanavian countries in general.

I find these two UK breakdowns quite interesting, showing that the PS3 version of Tiger Woods is certainly no match for motion control and the Wii edition is MoH is chugging along nicely considering it's the PS2 game that is being heavily promoted instead:

7.) Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07 (EA) - Wii (40%), PS3 (22%)
13.) Medal of Honour: Vanguard (EA) - PS2 (83%), Wii (17%)

As for this:

27.) Rayman Raving Rabbids (Ubisoft) - NDS (33%), Wii (25%), PS2 (18%), GBA (14%)

...it's a MASSIVE turnaround, considering the GBA game was ignored when launched alongside the PS2 edition late last year, and even the DS game when it hit in March was overlooked for the first three weeks.

did dragonball z even make it into the uk's chart?

It got squashed in a low Wii-stock week, so despite retailer pushing it never made the Top 40 and is quickly fading now.

I find your lack of faith disturbing!

Kororinpa peaked at No.4 on the Wii Top 10 in Germany, I know that...and Wii Play is the current highest ranked Wii game there right now Smilie

Oh, got it. page 428.

I find your lack of faith disturbing!

*checking* okay, the rest is from Finland (Nightwish)... and of course US bands too. That suffices.

I find your lack of faith disturbing!

For a second there I thought I was looking at a Japanese chart Smilie

Impressive score for DBZ in France, considering the anime isn't broadcast on TV anymore since 1996.
