Nintendo Wii News | Resident Evil 4: Light Edition

By Adam Riley 30.04.2007 15

Capcom has revealed that it is adding two easier modes to give the Wii audience more options to play through Resident Evil 4 with. Considering the majority of the current userbase for Wii is not what can be deemed a 'hardcore audience', Capcom has decided that in order to make the Wii edition of Resident Evil 4 appeal to more people, it should add in two extra modes of play.

In a video interview with Famitsu, Producer Masachika Mawata and Director Minoru Nakai spoke openly about the inclusion of an 'Easy' and 'Amateur' mode to complement the 'Normal' mode.

These will lend a helping hand by offering a target lock-on feature for enemy despatching, plus an infinite range for the gun's laser sight to ease targetting.

Nakai-san added that use of the knife will now be simpler a well, having to merely slash the Wii controller in the desired direction, with more damage being dealt the closer you are to an enemy. This is as opposed to the original version where things were rather more fiddly, having to aim up or down with the analogue stick.

But, in conclusion, it was stressed that the game was being intensified to ensure it remains just as exciting as before. Simple, but not overly easy and boring is the key!

Stick around for further updates...

RE4 wasn't really hard enough to begin with.

Yes. I can see why they would make it easier, for all the grannies and that which apparently own and play Wiis (and will be interested in Resident Evil 4, no doubt), but they should add a harder mode too, for us folks who found it to be piss easy in the first place.

Good news i guess.... it will make it easier for 5 year olds.....Smilie

I see all these people insulting the Nintendo corporation because of the lack of mature content. Yet there is something about Nintendo (at least their games) that strikes a certain unadulterated feeling of joy!!!  Pokemon Y - 1048-9263-5562

Guess I was the only one who found professional mode hard.

Gods in His Heaven. Alls right in the World.

It's actually a very good idea, in my opinion.

I for one found Resident Evil 4, pretty much solid. Giving users the option for an even easier option is brilliant, but they have still kept the original difficulty in there as well, so what's to complain about?

It tempts me more to buy it, that's for sure.

For most games, playing anythign else but normal the first time through ruins the game.

It's going to be shit and you jolly well know it.

This is a good example. They are giving you the option instead of forcing players to play "hard" or "eazy".

I think this is a good idea, coupled with after you beat normal there is that crazy Proffesional mode that makes you feel like a noob again.

However, I do not think they made this mode for "grannies" but more for "teenagers" or the "GTA" people who cannot sit down and figure out a game with a story. Mild Gamers I call them.

Definitely a smart move by Capcom. Although the original wasn't hard to begin with, majority of Wii owners aren't hardcore gamers.

I thought the game was quite solid in terms of difficulty. O well, at least I'll be able to play this with my wiimote this time.

Great, i can get my sis to play on this level happily. LS

You're certainly one of very few. There was hardly any difference between the two modes. The slight increase in the amount of damage you take doesn't matter if you never get hit anyway
