Has MGS4 defnitely gone to the Xbox360? I'm quite sure Kojima is absolutely against a port as the lack of space on a DVD ruins his vision for the game.

The '360 confirmation' comes from a website which claimed to have insider news on MGS4, saying that it was definitely coming to 360 because Konami has deemed such a port 'financially prudent'. Also, it said that the 360 port would come a year after the PS3 version. Now, this is just a pure rumour in my books, but what makes it unusual is that Konami issued a 'Cease & Desist' order to the website.

Said website has now altered the feature, removing the name of the game with "[Cease & Desist]", and saying that it will arrive in "more than 364 days, and less than 366 days". So basically, it's a rumour like any other (though this particular rumour has been getting very strong of late), but Konami's issuing of the Cease & Desist order has given the whole thing a bit of weight, and has made everyone clamor round saying this is tantamount to the 360 version being 'confirmed', as companies never issue Cease & Desist orders for mere rumours.

So, I personally still file it under the 'rumour' section. But it has a greater chance of happening in my eyes, now.

Are you sure about this? I've never heard that. All I've ever read on the subject is Kojima stating that MGS4 would be perfectly possible on the 360, but he wanted to 'be the first on PS3'.

i'm glad it was a fake reporting. mgs4 needs to stick to the ps3. that way it'll help increase sales, some what.

At the end of 2007, one of the biggest titles to be released for any of the current generation consoles is Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. As the follow up to the blockbuster smash hit PS2 title Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, it will problably sell extremely well and be played by many PS3 fans. However, sole owners of Wii and Xbox 360 would have to do without it. Fortunately, Konami isn?t completely blind to the fact that more gamers deserve to play this epic title, and it is now confirmed that Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots for the Xbox 360 will launch a year later in November 2008. It will come with new content additions including VR missions and other bonus gameplay like Snake Tales, which lets you go on more objective-based missions -- some quite lengthy. So, there's no question that Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots for the Xbox 360 comes packed with more content than the original PS3-version.

Oddly, this article seems very familiar

Oni, Konami may have issued a cease and desist order because such a rumour would affect game sales. People who already own a 360 and were thinking of getting a PS3 for this game as well as others would now think twice and hold off that entire year to get the game for a console they already own.

Konami could just be saying, if people believe this we loose money so take that false information down.

i thought i read that he thought 25Gb might not be enough for the game, but then i could be imagining it

Got this from Kotaku.

During a recent Kojima Productions Report podcast, Konami's Ryan Payton stated:

I can tell you honestly at this point, we have not changed the game in any form with the idea of 'oh, we got to do this on 360.' Put aside whether or not we're developing for 360 or not, the game is built on the PS3 hardware, as you guys have known for the past two years or so.

-------------------------------------------------

There's also Kojima telling Plunkett in April, "MGS4 is aimed for the movie theatre, it's aimed for the PS3, so the game's scenario and graphics need this theatre-type hardware. It's when a producer has a game that can work on the 'DVD level' that a game will go multiplatform."

Yeah I can understand what you mean. It's still unusual though, and the thing which has gotten everyone talking.

I don't know. I've never read about Kojima worrying about disc capacities. But then, he may have, and I may have just not come across it.

Well it's a Metal Gear Solid movie so it'll probably have longer cutscenes than most of the Bluray movies are at the moment. I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't fit onto a Bluray disk...

Still a proud member of the 'omfg amazing water in games' society

A spin off for Wii is possible I think, but no huge 3rd party games are coming to Wii, I'm sure of that.

Seeing as Snake is in SSBB, I don't think it would be right for the Wii to live without a Metal Gear title.

Well they COULD make a half decent stealthing FPS using the Wii controls.

Yeah, I'm sure Konami could pull it off, though I've heard Eledees/Elebits was "ok"

Still, Eledees was a pretty original game, if Konami have done a good MG game before (They have!!!! Smilie), then they could try & quite easily succeed to make a good one on Wii.
