Nintendo News | Wii Tidbits: Scarface, Manhunt 2, 3rd Party Support

A bunch of Wii tidbits were discussed in a recent podcast over at IGN including Manhunt 2, Scarface, additional 3rd party support and potential for a new adult Wii game.

Thanks to NeoGAF for a providing the key points.

  • They seem to like Scarface Wii. 4 different control settings (Casual/Normal/Advanced/Expert), different bounding box sizes for aiming, looks good for a Wii game.
  • Manhunt 2 "impressively violent", "ridiculous". Rockstar wants controversy on Wii. Lot of variety, Peer calls it "Splatter Cell".
  • Not too fond of Mario Party 8.
  • Activision/Ubisoft promising more support for Wii.
  • New gameplay mechanics in new Naruto for Wii.
  • Talking about the Fortune article and how much money Nintendo is making. They don't think they will see a pricedrop this winter, but maybe a new color (black?) Wii.
  • E3 will be insane... they don't know about any of the "megatons" yet, just a few things.
  • Company trying to get a publisher for an adult Wii game that could be huge. Not a garage developer or Tier C dev.
  • Matt says Retro will do something else with Metroid in the future after Prime 3.

    I hope thats in the far future, I want to see something original from them after corruption.

    This. Otherwise it's a sorry waste. They'll turn into just another Nintendo studio.

    I see all these people insulting the Nintendo corporation because of the lack of mature content. Yet there is something about Nintendo (at least their games) that strikes a certain unadulterated feeling of joy!!!  Pokemon Y - 1048-9263-5562

    I was listening to this yesterday, and I'm pretty sure the point was that they are going to be working on something unique (already have ideas), not a Metroid-related thing...

    Maybe I need to clear my ears out...

    Scarface was given mediocre reviews on other platforms. I wouldn't class it as 'something to look forward to' or anything.

    Apprentlys it's the wii controls that elevate it far above the others - you can't deny chainsawing doesn't sound awesome.

    It wasn't the controls that were criticized, though. It was the crap boring missions which got a slating. This may be a little bit better on Wii do to the funky controls, but 'a bit better' than shit still isn't very good or anything.
