Top Five Non Franchised GameCube Games
Feature by C3 Staff :: June 3rd 2007

Everyone loves lists. We love them more than most however. When Matt suggested we all sit down and think about our top ten non-franchised GameCube games everyone pointed out that the task was vaguely impossible. Out of this the top five idea was born, and below you'll find our ramblings. Some of them are cheating a bit, but none of them are established franchises and at the time of their release they were all brand new and exciting titles the likes of which we hadn't seem before. Some of them might have been whored off to the world of commercialism now, but back then they were glorious virginal gaming entertainment. If you think you can come up with a better list or feel that Mike picking Cubivore is a crime against humanity, then feel free to air your disgust and or views by commenting below.

I had a feeling that Baten Kaitos wasn't new, probably wrong and if so, then top of the list.

Certainly agreed on Chibi Robo, lovely little game and definitely correct on Animal Crossing.

I had a quick lok at my game collection of 110ish Cube games and I can only add one that I really enjoyed and hope they make a sequel to on the Wii,

Totally ignored and underrated game.

Temporarily banned until further notice.

Ikaruga *_*. Best shmup ever with Radiant Silvergun. Though, the DreamCast version is better than the GameCube port IMO, since the D-Pad is more accurate than the joystick ...

Dr_R said:Thanks for that list. A really, really good article. Ill now have to go and try XIII and Chibi-Robo, if I can find them anywhere.Oh and POP may well be a franchise (anyone who says otherwise didnt see the impact it had in the UK when first released on Mac and Amiga), but Sands of Time is truly one of the best games of the last gen: simple, ingenius, great story, great script, great voice acting, superb gameplay and an absolutely perfect length.
Difficult too. An even rarer rarity.Smilie

Only really found the elevator fight difficult. Some of the puzzles are just so fantastically clever though. Why did they have to go and destroy it all with the sequels?

I had Chibi-Robo, kinda funny and entertaining but still, the worst game Ive ever played Smilie
I'm going to pretend you didn't say that, infact, let's forget you ever did. It's like, worse than saying you like Nintendo or that you don't like XBOX! Smilie

Also, I quite liked Billy Hatcher too, I think it's a little underrated, & is definitely hated (along with everything else Sonic Team does) on this forum Smilie

baten kaitos would be on my list.It rocked.

You are fucking joking now aren't you? Baten Kaitos was a mediocre, average RPG that lacked any form of originality, and before anyone says it, the magnus system was a Winamp skin for FFVII's materia system.

Oh, Superlink the main reason why Billy Hatcher was so hated was because of the bleeding music. The cutsey graphics and basic gameplay I could deal with, I could even grow to like it but the music. I can't play games without sound and I couldn't play Billy Hatcher with sound.

I don't remember Billy Hatcher having bad music... I loved it personally... And the little addition of a Sonic egg was weird, but awesome ^^;

I'm beginning to think SuperLink may have stolen a large part of my brain and forgotten to take the Metroid Prime bit...

Animal Crossing and Luigi's Mansion would definitely be on my list. Animal Crossing was a great diversion that lasted a good while, and Luigi's Mansion was short but a ton of fun. Luigi's Mansion is screaming to be turned into a franchise though. I think it would be pretty cool with Wii controls. Perhaps even on the DS with the touchscreen.

I really liked the Billy Hatcher music O_O it got a lot better later in the game too. The final world had really cool music on the first night level.
