Nintendo News | No Censorship For RE4: Wii Edition in the West

By Jorge Ba-oh 06.06.2007 15

Quick News: With Resident Evil 4 (Wii Editon) hitting Japan last week, the Internet has been set alight with censorship issues in the game. Not content with a cut-down experience, players in the west have gotten confirmation that the upcoming release this side of the globe will be as gory and disturbing as its GameCube / PlayStation 2 counterparts.

Yeah thats what it sounds like it.

I see all these people insulting the Nintendo corporation because of the lack of mature content. Yet there is something about Nintendo (at least their games) that strikes a certain unadulterated feeling of joy!!!  Pokemon Y - 1048-9263-5562

Sorry for Japan...

Why did they? The fun part of buying a RE game is the blood and gore they contain...

Well, at least it's good news for me Smilie

This is a screenshot of the Japanese Edition of the game. Something tells me Nintendo had something to do with this. Just look at the merchant.Smilie

I just quickly created it, hence the shoddy work.Smilie

I'm glad they're not censoring the western edition. I may just get this game and be rid of my Gamecube version.

Thank god we're not getting restrictions on the game, but is it still planned as a budget title? It bloody well better be!

You know what, I think that looks better. Breaks up the blandless a bit.

I think the original GC release was also similarly censored in Japan. This is no concern for any of us.

Yeah it was. All it is is certain deaths don't happen the way they do in our version, such as in the chainsaw death Leon's head doesn't come off. I think the villagers' heads don't come off as well, but I'm not sure... They'd kinda have to for the plagas anyway, so there wouldn't be much point in getting rid of that.

I think the German version had similar censoring before too, including the removal of one cutscene which apparently suggests that Ashley gets raped... Because whenever a girl is lying on the floor with a zombie standing over her it means she's gonna get raped.

Still a proud member of the 'omfg amazing water in games' society

Poor them, I must say i am surprised, but i suppose Capcom did mention the family faily often in their soundbytes for the game.
