Original Story - Some early Japanese sales estimates have been released from Famitsu's data, thanks to blogger 'sinobi', showing how well Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition has done in its first week. According to the figures, Capcom's port of the GameCube classic has now sold around 50,000 units, which is great news for the fourth edition of the game (GC, PS2 and PC more recently). The biggest seller of the week was Nintendo's own Observation Training, which sold around 100,000 units to claim No.1 and Ouendan 2 has been restocked to rebound back into the Top 10 and attain total sales of around 100,000 since release just a few weeks ago. As for the Wii's performance, Wii Sports is reportedly at the 1,550,000 mark, whilst Wii Play is now totalling 1,250,000 units since last December's release.
For the week of 28th May - 3rd June, 2007, here is the Top 10

Jacob4000I'm actually rather surprised. Though I shouldn't be really, if the Japanese can buy 12 DS lites each then they can buy four different versions of RE4.

noneDoes this version have major additions over the Gamecube version? (I assume that the controls have changed but has much else been added?). If not then why don't people just get the Cube version preowned for 1/3 of the price?
This is my very small signature. I hope it's not too big.

Because there's nothing else out on the Wii, unfortunately.
It's got all the extra PS2 stuff, and some new controls. A 'definitive version', if you like. (until they remake it 6 times like RE1 that is)
It'll be amazing and you jolly well know it.

It's got all the bonus missions from the PS2 edition and the controls are said to be great making this the best of all versions.
I'll eventually buy it and be rid of my GC version.

LinkyshinksI feel the same excitement that japanese audience feel about Resi 4, I know it's essentially the same game but i myself have never played the PS2 version and the reworking of the controls makes the game more rewarding by all accounts.
I look foward to the end of the month, the £24 price is a price i am happy to pay for a definitive version of a classic game i adored and will adore moreso with this version. LS
Does anyone know what Famitsu gave the initial version of the game before giving it the full whack 10/10 this time around?
