Nintendo Speculation | Pilotwings Wii Finally Coming?

By Adam Riley 10.06.2007 27

Quick News - When the Wii was first revealed most retail outlets stuck Pilotwings on their release lists. However, it was quickly removed when it became clear it was not forthcoming. Now, though, Gamestop has re-added the game to its website. With the amount of retailer leaks lately turning out to be true, could this be as well?

This was my first game for the SNES. If this is true it's wonderful news. The Pilotwings franchise is perfect for Wii, a match made in gaming heaven. Parachuting will not get any cooler with a Nunchuk and Wii remote in your hands, cannot wait. Smilie

The original i hope is coming to the VC soon.LS

Pft, I never liked it.

Nintendo did the SNES game, Paradigm finished the N64 version and Factor 5 was meant to be working on a GameCube edition...but since that team is seemingly working exclusively on the PS3 now, no wonder the game's been delayed. EGM rumoured this early last year, stating Nintendo was working very hard on getting it up to speed on Wii...so hopefully we'll get to see something at next month's E3!

I am confident this version will be top draw. The Wii has everything it needs in specs to pull off such a game well, and that fact it is a inhouse version makes me more confident of that.

I wonder what new modes of flight have been incorperated, will be interesting to see if we get a Bird Man. LS

I see all these people insulting the Nintendo corporation because of the lack of mature content. Yet there is something about Nintendo (at least their games) that strikes a certain unadulterated feeling of joy!!!  Pokemon Y - 1048-9263-5562

I loved Pilotwings64. Terrible PAL conversion, mind. Hope this is true.

Phew, I thought this would be about it coming on VC.

Pilotwings 64 was lovely. I'd prefer an original game though.

It's going to be shit and you jolly well know it.

I must admit I'd never heard of Pilotwings until people starting talking about a Wii version... What do you do in it, and why is it so good?

You fly around doing challenges or nothing, and it's really relaxing

It's going to be shit and you jolly well know it.

Hmmm i always thought this would sort of become a wii sports type package, remember the plane demo a few years back?

Yeah, what happened to 'Wii Motorsports'?

It's going to be shit and you jolly well know it.

Yeah I hope that actually exists as a game, the water looked great...

I loved renting this out for my N64 not having a clue what to do in it. That and Superman 64...

Wasn't Superman 64 supposed to be one of the rubbishest games ever made?

I think that's he was kidding, cause i have known that Ginger mother fucker my whole life and haven't seen Superman 64 in his house.

Reminds me of renting games...... 3 words NBA Hang Time.

What a fucking game.

I got Pilotwings 64 recently for

Yeah. I remember the stage with Mario's face cut into the mountainside. Not alot of people knew, but you could actually refuel your plane at the petrol station Smilie

I have pilot wings for the SNES. Hated it, but I was really young at the time. Maybe I'll give it a go soon...

I thought the SNES one was rubbish. N64 wins!

I've never played the SNES game, looks even worse than Starwing!

It's going to be shit and you jolly well know it.

The SNES one's pretty fun. I've still not played the N64 one though, bad me. Really want to see it make an appearance on Wii, though!

I hope Wii Motorsports is still about too...I expect we'll be hearing about a bunch of stuff we'd almost forgotten and new things next month.

We might find out soon isn't Nintendo's conference planned for tommorrow.

Nope wait that in July not June...

Oh God, I hope his is true. Pilotwings & Pilotwings 64 were both truly amazing games. I was chomping at the bit for a sequel on our beloved little cube. Alas, it wasn't to be. I was heartbroken when Factor 5 "parted ways/stabbed us in the back" with Nintendo. Right after they started "collaborating closely" with Nintendo on the third installment of Pilotwings for GameCube. LIARS!! lol Smilie

Pilotwings for Wii could be nothing short of spectacular. To be honest, I'm also waiting for them to announce new installments of Excitebike, Waverace, 1080, Pikmin, StarFox, and F-Zero for Wii. We all know Mario Kart's coming. lol Smilie

Damn, you Factor 5! Where's my new Rogue Squadron game??!! *takes a sedative*

Yeah I used to drive around on the roads there and explore the landscape. Littlestates it was called I believe.

Id like to see Pilot Wings 64 released on the VC.

I hope Pilotwings Wii turns out better then that Wing Island. Wasnt that the Nintendo flying demo from a few years ago? That didnt turn out too well. Hopefully Nintendo can do better.
