It's a celebration this week as Virtual Console proudly presents its 100th classic game! Make sure you're in gear and ready to rev your engine to the max as F-Zero X, the 100th title on Virtual Console, launches this week. This futuristic racing game is the stunning Nintendo 64 sequel to the Super Nintendo Entertainment System smash hit and will have you going hell for leather! Boasting 30 different hover machines to control and more than 20 tracks, all packed with jaw-dropping twists and turns to choose from, players must use the capabilities of their chosen vessels to spin and sideswipe opponents out of the way and take the glory in victory. With five different modes including Time Attack, Death Race Mode and multi-player VS mode, players will be spoilt for gravity-defying choice! Make sure you celebrate the 100th Virtual Console game in style and download F-Zero X for 1000 Wii Points.

Also up for grabs this week is J.J. & Jeff, a comical side-scrolling platform game originally created for the TurboGrafx. Players assume the role of either J.J. or Jeff, two bungling detectives, as they run, jump, kick or spray their way through six different levels to solve a kidnapping case. Players must defeat their enemies by cunningly using their spray paint, whilst also keeping an eye on their life spans which can be bolstered by finding hidden food throughout the levels. Get clued up with J.J. & Jeff on the Virtual Console this week for 600 Wii Points!

Nintendo's Virtual Console has some of the greatest games of all time. Fans of classic Nintendo systems have so far been delighted by games from the Nintendo Entertainment System, Super Nintendo Entertainment System and Nintendo 64, including Super Mario 64, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past and the hugely popular Super Mario World. Also some of the world's biggest game publishers have brought many of their greatest hits to Virtual Console, including Street Fighter II The World Warrior and Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts from Capcom, Castlevania and Gradius from Konami, and Galaga and Pac-Man from Namco Bandai.

In addition SEGA has also been treating its fans by releasing a host of popular SEGA MEGA DRIVE games which have so far included Sonic the Hedgehog, Streets of Rage, Golden Axe and Gunstar Heroes. On top of this Hudson has been entertaining gamers with a selection of its best titles from Turbografx (PC Engine) including Bomberman '93, R-Type, Super Star Soldier and Bonk's Adventure.

These games bring the total up to and over 100 classic titles available on the Virtual Console in Europe.

Stick around for further updates...

F-Zero!!!????? As if I just spent all my points LAST week.

Good to hear finally another N64 game. I've got it on N64 & don't plan on getting it again, but it's a better 100th VC title than Zelda II Smilie

All of them classics?

I find it hard playing F Zero X after playing F Zero GX. I agree though, much better 100th title than Zelda II.

FZERO X is a sweet game to have, I shall have to download it now. LS

"All of them classics?"

I would say 28 of those 100 games are classics.

That's awesome.

They should have released paper mario would have at least made the wait for the new one a bit more bearable.

C3, why does you news have to read like such PR bullshit? Doesn't even sound like a real human wrote it, but rather a robot.

Yeah, hopefully they will release it before the Wii version hits. If they were to do so, it would impact on sales positively. LS

Still no Super Mario RPG...

I think it sounds like someone who is a big fan of Nintendo wrote it Smilie.

It's the same text we have on our Shopping Channel, all the text there is geared towards actual fans of Nintendo who own Wii's. These news stories are not reviews for games. [LS]

F-Zero X comes with the 64DD editing tools I assume.

Wait....it doesn't?

Smilie

It's going to be shit and you jolly well know it.

That was the reason behind my earlier post on this topic which was meant to be taken sarcastically.

Why not put unbiased reviews of VC games up instead, rather than a free advertisment for Nintendo? News items like this in my opinion aren't helpful, they're misleading and a waste of bandwidth.
