Nintendo Rumour | Revised DS in the Works?

By Jorge Ba-oh 17.06.2007 19

Quick News: Some interesting rumours from Japanese magazine Gamelab seem to suggest a revised model of the DS could be on its way with a larger screen and better legibility. No official word yet, but be sure to stick around for any updates...

Seems rather pointless after the Lite. What's happened to the days where the was one version of a system and that was that. Bah! Smilie

The DS Lite SP? Hmm. Not really any need for one. I'll probably still get one though, if this is true.

You can't make the screen larger, it would stretch the picture and look crap.Smilie

-There's no way it could be a whole new console.
-If it's a revised DS why would it need a bigger screen? It would only stretch DS games so they don't look as good.

Therefore, it's fake.

Maybe it's in the same vein as those telephones with huge buttons for old people?

It's going to be shit and you jolly well know it.

When was that? Even the Atari 2600 had different versions. Smilie

Nintendo will appreciate good customers like you for years to come.

I am all for this, it could do with a larger screens, and they could do it at cheap cost. The price of LCD technology has dropped considerably recently. [LS]

This sort of Rumor does not suprise me.

A counter to a possible PSP "lite"?

Hmm. I was going to get a DS shortly. I guess I'll wait to see what comes of this first. I'd hate to buy one only for there to be a better one around the corner. Thanks for the heads up Smilie

Exactly. You wouldn't be able to increase the resolution of the screen, because it would just make the games look poorly, but if you just increased the size, it would still look crap. The DS screen resolution is already low. Imagine keeping that resolution at a bigger size.

Any rumor that has to do with a bigger screen is as fake as rumors for the PSP "lite" getting a second nub. Now if the rumors were a smaller screen, like a Micro DS, that might be true. But even then, the DS lite is nearly perfect and doesn't need any changes, unless they were going to give the thing access to the VC and internal memory to buy games.

There were both three types of Gameboys and GBAs so a rumour like this isn't too farfetched. Although this will be the first time they actually increased the size of a handheld.

As the resolution will remain exactly the same, with larger pixels games like Metroid Prime Hunters will look terrible. Bah, it's only for old people with poor sight anyway so who cares.

They should just sell a special Nintendo-branded magnifying glass for all the pensioners instead. Tsk.

Smilie OMG ive got one of those aswell!!!! hahahaha You WIN a Star!!!

Anyway back on topic... yeah it seem pretty pointless at this time maybe after a year or two... ofcourse... but not right now... Smilie

I see all these people insulting the Nintendo corporation because of the lack of mature content. Yet there is something about Nintendo (at least their games) that strikes a certain unadulterated feeling of joy!!!  Pokemon Y - 1048-9263-5562

i figure they will make another one sometime... I mean they had The GBA, SP, and the Micro...

Yeah but the Micro came out 2 years after the SP.... so if Nintey were to release one by the end of this year or mid 2008... that would be stupid coz there is no point.... the earliest im expecting a revamped DS is by 2009!!!

This is it...

Nintendo are making a console so Mrs. Biggins can play Brain Training on her way to tesco's.

*sigh*

Larger screen? No freaking way is that going to happen. That would totally affect current games and future games to come. If a game is optimized for a larger screen that could totally fuck with the DS phat and lite models. Nintendo aren't that stupid.

They will probally get rid of the GBA technology on board to reduce costs, and to make way for a mw/sw radio for the oldies. [LS]
