Nintendo Wii News | Capcom Reveals Low Resident Evil Expectations

By Adam Riley 29.06.2007 16

Quick News - In Capcom's 2007 fiscal meeting, Kazuhiko Abe, Director and Managing Corporate Officer, stated the company only expects to sell 420,000 copies of Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition worldwide and 620,000 units of Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles.

Stick around to see if those low-ball figures get easily beaten...

RE4 i can understand but its quite low for umbrella chronicles
although i suppose the installed user base isnt massive

i just ordere my copy of RE 4. neva played it b4 so thats good!! Smilie

Those are certainly low expectations, I expect them both to do slightly better than that.I will get my copy of RE4Wii tomorow, thankfully Amazon use Parcelforce which will run through the strike. [LS]

I picked up RE4 Wii today and I'm enjoying what I've played so far. Hopefully most of the Wii owners out there who never played RE4 before but wanted to will pick it up.

RE4 was selling quite well in Manchester today, but More Brain Training was flying off the shelves! I only saw one copy of Puzzle League, though, and that was hidden away...so I stuck it in an empty MBT spot on the No.1 rack in GAME Smilie

I do that sort of thing sometimes. We should start a club.

It's going to be shit and you jolly well know it.

I PEx my old copy of BT today for BT2. I have to say it is a vast improvement of the first one. Some of the games are fun, I like the word scramble so far. I can see myself sticking to the routine with this one. [LS]

I have the original GC RE4, but I picked up RE4:WE on launch day (U.S.) regardless (considering what game it is and the bonus goodies included, it's a fantastic deal for $30USD) and boy I tell you, this truly is the definitive version. It kicks so much ass it's scary. (horrible pun intended) lol

It's a little surprising Capcom has such low expectations for either games, though. Hopefully, sales will surpass them.

Chance favors the prepared mind.

Smilie WOW that is pretty low... surprised at that!

I see all these people insulting the Nintendo corporation because of the lack of mature content. Yet there is something about Nintendo (at least their games) that strikes a certain unadulterated feeling of joy!!!  Pokemon Y - 1048-9263-5562

It doesn't help when they hideously under-stock the game in Japan. I have faith that RE4 will surpass 420k, it really deserves much better sales, it is the best action game ever.

Has there been much of a TV presence for it. I saw a very quick ad on the 8 out of 10 cats.

Shall be picking this gem of a title up tommorrow.

Yeah I saw that face pack Ad yesterday also. Like to see a longer ad though, maybe that was just one of those small ones. [LS]

Two things:

- Around Manchester GAME has large advertisements for RE4 and MBT in its front windows, which bodes well for its chart placing on Monday.

- In Japan, Famitsu had the game at around 75,000 sales already. Factor in how it stayed at No.31 this week on the M-C charts and it looks like it'll easily hit 100,000 in Japan alone, perhaps even making it to 150,000 if Capcom gets more copies out. Now, in the US it's faring well on places like Amazon and is getting great coverage here in the UK (don't know about mainland Europe). So that 420,000 units target will be blasted away...certainly a good thing as it'll give Capcom more faith in the Wii!

Yes they should. I am hoping it will have the same kind of effect that FF3 had for SE and the DS. Capcom are commited to the Wii but success here will only reinforce that commitment. [LS]

How the hell do they think Umbrella Chronicles will sell more than RE4... Even if it is just a re-release

True the 420k figure will be blasted away, but they should re-stock the game in Japan ASAP, because if any market is cut throat it is the Japanese.

Isn't Harry Potter out this week as well, that might of taken some of the attention away from the big DS and Wii hits.

Scarface is out today also. [LS]
