Looks quite nice to be honest... It's a shame Sonic Team have to be making it... what are the chances they screw it up?

Anyway, announcement of Saturn games on VC would make my E3.

Interesting, I've never played nights before so I don't know if the gameplay is right or not? It looks alright, too bad the video is so low-res that anybody with a brain can't make a graphic judgment yet, ah well.

    Wow looks freaky.
    Jump around and collect stuff...
Ok I have never ever played NiGHTS can comeone brief me on what to expect?

By the looks of it you have to follow/catch the bird.

Looks absolutely gorgeous, even if the video is of lower resolution than the actual game. We could be on to an absolute winner here! This is definitely the right direction for Sega to take.... more sequels to old franchises please Sega... on Wii please. (not too many, some new games needed too)

    no music yet?

    AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!

Don't watch the first video! Horrid hollywood trailer shit!

Second one looks alright, level is far too sparse. Somewhat relieved.

It's going to be shit and you jolly well know it.

The first trailer is completely bizarre, considering this is a videogame and not a movie.

It has that strange bloke's voice in it, who narrates just about ever movie trailer ever created. Not just that, but just the overall feel of it; it's like a trailer for younger audiences. I'm not complaining though, I actually enjoyed it very much and it made change to the usual boring trailers for videogames.

As for the game itself, it looks pretty decent. I never played the original, so it's likely I'll want to experience this game. I'll probably end up getting it, as long as it gets some positive feedback from the press at E3.

I've never played NiGHTS either. And to be honest, this video doesn't do it for me.
I just hope that it doesn't have it's review scores marked up because of name sake.

The problems with that gameplay video:

    -needs music obviously
-There need to be more, denser tunnels of rings
-The objects and rings need to be bigger and look like they're made out of boiled sweets and marshmallows
-the loop graphics are a bit tame, needs to be a big opaque stripy pink and blue spiral
-Everything needs to be bigger and the colours bolder
-Simone who isn't shit needs to be playing it, they're going far too slow.

    Compare it to this:

Effectively it is the same game though, which is a huge relief.

It's going to be shit and you jolly well know it.

Nah, this one looks far better, nostalgia Smilie

Nostalgia? I played NiGHTS for the first time less than a year ago...

It's going to be shit and you jolly well know it.

It does need a bit more stuff going on hopfully it's just maby a first easy tutorial level or just a demo for show.
Never played the original so i'm not too sure of what too make of it myself, but looks like it's coming along well.

Is it just me or does this game looks like Sonic?

I find your lack of faith disturbing!

It's very similar to Sonic in a lot of ways.

It's going to be shit and you jolly well know it.

Whats the point of it? The Grumbler posted video had the character doing the same level about 20 times in a loop. That seems like overkill.

When people say this a "great game." Am I infact missing something?

You collect enough blue orbs to open the ideya capture (the cage thing), and then go around the course as much as you can to score as many points as you can, then return to the palace thing where you started before the time runs out.

Collecting orbs and flying through hoops in quick succession creates chain combos which stack up to score points. it's all about finding the quickest path between the scoring opportunities and accurately steering to maintain your chain. I'm shite at it but it's still fun.

Each level has 4 courses, so when the time runs out you go back to the palace and the path around the level will change and you start again. After the fourth, you're teleported to the boss.

You need to get a reasonable overall score in all the levels to unlock the final level.

The video I posted is of a very early, easy level, where you have heaps of extra time in which to get the objectives done. To get a good score you have to go around a lot though, because there's so much time.

Once you've completed the game it becomes a very deep, very difficult score-attack game. Hence the website http://www.scoreattack.net/.

Well, like Grumbles said, it needs music, & since the music from the first game was so nice, I'm looking forward to hearing some more nice stuff from the new game.

Seeing as that level was missing music... that leads me to believe it may not be complete yet. There are bound to be more changes made to the game. Surely though, what the game needs is to NOT be exactly like the first game, being a sequel that took like 10 years to arrive, it should really expand on the first game in a good way, but seeing as this isn't the Sonic Team of old, I'm doubting they'll be able to actually improve on it.

I'd be more excited if it was just a remake with new levels. if it was the same team, I would want it to be much more different, but under the circumstances there's too much risk of them screwing it up.

    Damn these auto-playing video streams!

I don't think it's the same team... Yuji Naka hadn't even heard of it before they announced it had he? I think that's how it went. Anyway it's the same team as Shadow or something isn't it? Smilie

& yeah, the videos keep playing, but as I saw the beginning of the first video again, it reminded me that that first video looks loads like the beginning of Sonic 360. Smilie

    Twitter | C3 Writer/Moderator | Backloggery

No, it's not the same team. Original designer is directing, but that's about it.

Watch this, somone's added some of the old music. Much much better.

It's going to be shit and you jolly well know it.

It's probally simply using a tweaked version of the SSR engine, which in some ways is a good thing as it may mean it's as fast at times. The faster the better imo, and I want bigger bosses. SEGA have turned into hoars recently, that Ad is clearly directed at middle america. I can see this game selling very well with that shameless marketing strategy.[LS]

People had kept on saying that NiGHTS would work perfectly with the Wii controls, but I don't get why. It's probably because I've never played the Saturn game, but why do people think it'll work so well? It seems to mostly work with analogue control anyway.

    Twitter | C3 Writer/Moderator | Backloggery

I have no idea what the controls on this are, but if I was making it I'd use the pointer to rotate, which would allow you to pretty much point where you want to go with a lot more subtlety and accuracy than an analogue stick.

The real controls probably involve shite gestures and frantic wiggling however.

It's going to be shit and you jolly well know it.
